Is there a way to adjust the AP Altitude Reference while in Altitude Hold mode,

and not immediately have the autopilot seek this new altitude?

 

I assume I can keep the Altitude Reference in a separate variable and only set

if for the autopilot when the user explicitly selects a vertical mode, but it would be easier

if I could adjust the AP Altitude Reference and somehow keep the airplane at the current

altitude..

Not sure, but in the autopilot section of the aircraft.cfg you can set: default_vertical_speed = 0

Bingo - that was easy, and does exactly what I want!
