April 16, 201214 yr Has anyone replaced the pots or the board circuitry on a PFC Saab column yoke? My yoke is producing erratic behavior with very little inputs from myself and I'm wondering if I need to replace something and how difficult is it to do so.. jen noulet
April 16, 201214 yr Commercial Member Jen, It is a good possibilty that your pots are dirty/worn, if they are you can purchase replacements from PFC or any other store that sells potentiometers. Another culprit could be the base where the logic board is stored, if there is a lot of dust in the base, try removing the plate at the back of the base and remove some of that dust. Before changing the pot you can try cleaning it (I use Deoxit) which works fairly well. I will tell you though that PFC is going to charge you "out the wazzou" for a replacement pot. I think it is like $25.00 and another $25.00 for shipping. April 16, 201214 yr You should contact PFC. They are extremely helpful when it comes to these things, and if any parts are worn out, replacing them shouldn't be a problem. They'll help you when it comes to doing it too.

April 18, 201214 yr Has anyone replaced the pots or the board circuitry on a PFC Saab column yoke? My yoke is producing erratic behavior with very little inputs from myself and I'm wondering if I need to replace something and how difficult is it to do so.. jen noulet Just recieved my brand new column yoke with HE sensors from the USA and while calibrating noticed the 2 axis were all jittery. Add the fact that the yoke in the neutral postion leans toward the front by about 30mm. Not happy at the moment. Cost about $2000.00 to get it to Australia, expected a little more. Waiting for a reply to an e-mail sent this morning. I'm tipping the yoke will be on its' way back to Uncle Sam this week. April 18, 201214 yr One thing I learned about PFC - they are very fast at dealing with problems. Hope you are right, their website says I will have to bear the costs of returning the items. It cost about $500 dollars to ship and add the customs fees of $635. Surely they wouldn't expect me to pay that for a faulty product after already forking out $2000 for the yoke! April 18, 201214 yr their website says I will have to bear the costs of returning the items Not if you received it broken! Either you make repairs yourself, which is quite easy on their products or they have to send you a new one, all on their expense. It's the warranty thing, nothing else. I paid 30€ delivery back to Spain, of the first yoke I received, which was broken, and they immediately dispatched a 2nd one, and I got the 30€ back via wire transfer.
April 20, 201214 yr One thing I learned about PFC - they are very fast at dealing with problems. You were spot on. Just received an e-mail from Mike Altman and they are building me a new yoke and shipping it free of charge next week! The best customer service!!!!! April 25, 201214 yr Author Since I have a Saab column yoke, I was wondering if anyone has ever replaced the pots on this one. I don't have any idea where they are located. I did find the processor green board at the base of the unit but I think my pots are bad since I'm getting a very jittery yoke movements when very little input to the roll axis... Thanks for any help in this matter as it is almost impossible to manually fly the NGX. Regards, jen noulet
April 28, 201214 yr Author Crosswind, Thanks for the tip on the 'Deoxit' aerosol cleaner....I took the dome off my column PFC yoke and sprayed the hell out of the pot and it has made all the difference in the world. No more jittery aileron yoke movements and everything is running extremely well. Thanks again, jen
