  1. Is there anyway to increase the color intensity of the magenta vertical directional indicator along with the horizontal glideslope indicator. When manually flying an approach, it is difficult to see these indicators as they appear faded. Regards, jen noullet
  2. That's essentially correct. I paid approx. $795 for the Saab (column yoke) in January of 2011. It was a 'special' that they were offering at the time. Look for 'Specials' on their website. They still might have it for that price. You could also purchase their 'desktop yoke' which is mounted to your existing desk rather than the column style which I have. I believe it is a couple hundred less than the column yoke. Either way, when you spend a thousand or more on a computer and monitor setup every 2 to 3 years as opposed to $130 for a plastic yoke, it makes a little more sense to buy a premium yoke and have it for a life-time. I put up with the Saitek and the CH products for way too long. The joys of the PFC brand have made quite a difference for me. Regards, jen noulet
  3. PFC kicks....I got the Saab Column yoke & rudder pedals and haven't looked back. The 737NG yoke that they have is almost identical to the Saab yoke outside of the big difference in price. The operation is basically the same except for the logo and autopilot disconnect etc. Other than that, they have the same internals at a much lower cost. Regards, jen noulet
  4. I did a 1 hour session at Flight Experience in Queenstown, NZ a couple years back and throughly enjoyed it. Landing at Queenstown is nerve-racking. I've also got a number of hours in the real Level D NG. In 2005 I got a special price of $150/hr. so I jumped on that. The downside was it was booked at 10pm and went to 2am in the morning. I just checked to see what the going price/hr. is now and they quoted me $800/hr. with a minimum of 2 hrs.....I'll have to think about that....Whoa... :Waiting: Regards, jen noulet
  5. My bad....I meant to say Manual (Emergency) Gear release mechanism. Sorry about that..Anyone know if this was modelled? Regards, jen noulet
  6. I assume that the 'Manual Brake Release' system is NOT modeled as it is modeled in the MD-11. I'm I correct or I'm I incorrect !!! jen noulet
  7. Crosswind, Thanks for the tip on the 'Deoxit' aerosol cleaner....I took the dome off my column PFC yoke and sprayed the hell out of the pot and it has made all the difference in the world. No more jittery aileron yoke movements and everything is running extremely well. Thanks again, jen
  8. AH....Word Not Allowed, I just received some instructions on how to disassemble the pot from the column yoke from PFC. I should be good to go from here. Thanks again for your thoughts and support. Regards, jen P.S.....My yoke is a little over a year old, but I fly everyday. Getting ready for my next real sim. ng instruction. :Nail Biting:
  9. Well said Word Not Allowed.....I checked the source of the 10k ohm pot and they charge $ 7.00 USD for it. So, for an additional $ 18.00 plus shipping of who knows what, they will/can walk you through the process. I'm still waiting for their (PFC) phone call which I made about 10 hours ago. I'm surprised that there is no one on this hdwre forum who has taken the jump into dismantiling the aileron pot on this forum. Maybe, in time, someone will come forward with a schimatic of how to remove this potentiameter. Regards again, jen
  10. Has anyone on this forum ever replaced the aileron (roll) Pot on a Saab (COLUMN) yoke. I believe it is different in design than the desktop model and looks like it's a lot more complicated to replace it. I took Word Not Allowed's advise and emailed PFC and they replied back with the following: "Hello! Because the potentiometers used on the column yoke are sealed the cleaner may not help the problem. You may try to spray some on it anyway to see if you get results. The potentiometer for the aileron is located on the opposite side of the yoke. You can access this be removing the dome cover of the column or if you need more space, you can remove the back half of the column. For the elevator, you will need to remove the pedestal cover screw as shown on the picture to access it . The potentiometers that we use are usually not available at radio shack, you can try to find a suitable replacement if preferred. The potentiometer is a 10K ohm wire wound each is $25.00, $35.00 if you would like to purchase the gears as well." Well, I took the dome cover off and the pot is at the top, but I'm not sure as to what I have to do in order to remove the pot and it's associated teflon gear. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, jen noulet
  11. Since I have a Saab column yoke, I was wondering if anyone has ever replaced the pots on this one. I don't have any idea where they are located. I did find the processor green board at the base of the unit but I think my pots are bad since I'm getting a very jittery yoke movements when very little input to the roll axis... Thanks for any help in this matter as it is almost impossible to manually fly the NGX. Regards, jen noulet
  12. Many thanks to all of you for your help. I like your write-up and video Word Not Allowed. Regards, jen noulet
  13. Has anyone replaced the pots or the board circuitry on a PFC Saab column yoke? My yoke is producing erratic behavior with very little inputs from myself and I'm wondering if I need to replace something and how difficult is it to do so.. jen noulet

    Back up CD

The following was posted back in December 2011: Posted 25 December 2011 - 07:04 AM Thanks for all the instant responses. I just received a reaction from customer support that de CD will be produced and send in a few weeks. I suggested to them that they should inform the customers that ordered the backup CD when the decided to pospone the release. Customer care? Kind regards, Happy Christmas and a fantastic 2012! Don Houtman The Netherlands Could we have an update on the status of the 'back-up CD' ? Regards, jen noulet
  15. I have the Saab PFC column yoke and I'm quite pleased with it. I was considering the 737 style boeing yoke but the only discernable difference it seemed was the price and the position of some of the buttons like the autopilot disconnect switch which was meaningless. Other than the buttons, the yoke is just as functional and sturdy as the ng yoke and I must say the price was quite a bit lower. I'm one happy camper after I traded in my CH plastic for a somewhat realistic yoke. Regards, jen noulet

    Back up CD

I'm sorry, maybe I did not clarify my initial inquiry into the whereabouts of the 'back-up CD'. The following is a partial summary of my original order of the ngx:QTY 1SKU 1861-37BKUPCDPRODUCT Backup CD Service: PMDG 737NGX (Base Package)PRICE $14.95This is what I was referring to and just wanted to know if these items have been sent out to those who chose to purchase this item in addition to the ngx software download. Sorry for the confusion. :sad:Regards, jen noulet

    Back up CD

Anybody receive their backup copy of the ngx?jen noulet
  20. Have the backup CD's been sent out yet?jen noulet
  21. Many thanks for the 'heads-up'...Regards,jen noulet
  22. I do not use FSUIPC with the ngx and was wondering if anyone knows of a quick disconnect key to 'disconnect' it when on short final without using the mouse to do it?jen noulet :(
  23. I'm assuming that the forthcoming CD's that I purchased along with the NGX download will have the new Sp1c incorporated in it. So, I'm going to wait and download the Sp1c when I get the backup CD version sometime after the 3/19/2012 or the thereabouts release to the postal service. I don't want to have any problems....'Period, the End'.. :Thinking:Regards, jen noulet
  24. I found that the controls are extremely sensitive to inputs and was having a little difficulty keeping it on course and altitude during my sessions in the 700 series full motion sim. Yoke and rudders are essential to getting to really 'half-way simulate' what it's really like during the takeoff and especially during the landings. I would highly recommend getting a good yoke & rudder system. I currently have the PFC (Precision Flight Controls) for both yoke and rudders and have never looked back.Regards, jen noulet
  25. Thank you Jim. I'll give it a try.Regards, jen noulet
