Stuck at World Init Screen

Not sure when it happened, I'm thinking when I upgraded drivers recently (Geforce 301.24 and the one previous release) Deleted my Prferences for a default reload and also copied over my initial Clean Install and still not working.

Looking at Nvidia's Forum I see that I a m not alone with this issue, but not going to downgrade my driver as I'm loving the new performance...So guess I'll wait for the next driver release or XPX patch.

I've been stuck at the 'Will init world rendering' screen ever since XPX's demo has been available for download. Despite all XPX updates and new nVidia drivers since then, I've never succeeded in getting the XPX demo to load. This was shared with the LR team who have confirmed that there's nothing wrong with my system and that they are working with nVidia representatives toward a resolution. But this was months ago!

 

With all the knowledge gained since XP first came out and the talented people in our community, I really don't understand how this issue continues to deprive many of us from at least exploring XPX as an alternative flight simulator. And why aren't 3rd party developers voicing their concerns? They should be concerned and publicly sharing their willingness to help. Surely somebody can figure this out! My two cents.

I'm also using a Nvidia driver (Linux 64-bit / driver version 295.40) with a GeForce 8800GT and have no problem. Vincent is using a GTX 480 SLI according to his signature, Jean-Jacques what is your Nvidia GPU ?

 

What's your operating system ? Did you try to launch X-Plane after disabling 3D desktops and window managers ?

I'm running the new Nividia beta drivers also,I find that if I'm running a program in the background this is when X-Plane hangs on start-up.If no other program is running it starts up fine.

I was reading thru the NvidiaForums, there is another Nvidia Surround User with the same drivers who is having the same issue. For me it just started.

I use a GTX 260 (and only a few days ago updated to nVidia's latest driver 301.24) and Windows 7 Ultimate 64. Windows' Aero theme (3D desktop?) is disabled but don't know what 'window managers' are. I also use TH2GO which on X-Plane's Developer Blog was identified several months ago as a potential issue. However, if it is, then I guess XPX is out of the question for me because I will not part with TH2GO not so much for using it with FSX and other games but for the additional desktop real estate it provides.

Oddly enough, XP9 is listed in Matrox's Surround Gaming Utility (SGU) as 'configured' or 'compatible' and offers the following additional information:

 

" X-Plane allows you to fully configure your TripleHead2Go settings to your preference. You select your desired TripleHead resolution under "settings, Rendering Options" while in-game. You can also select your preferred FOV (field-of-view) under "settings, Rendering Options, Lateral Field of View". A FOV anywhere from 130-143 degrees is recommended, however you can set this to whatever level you are comfortable with."

 

Hmmm . . . but you can only proceed to do these things once the software has loaded!

 

Almost sounds like it's only a matter of flipping a switch somewhere in the code!

This is just a thought, but I have always had the problem of X-Plane whether in version 9 or 10 of starting to load and then usually I get a, "system not responding", I just let it set and run, it will finally load up. When I first started using X-Plane, (version 9.5), I thought that the program had crashed and would try to reload it, I finally let it set for about 4 minutes and the sim would finally load. On my system it takes about 4 minutes to load up, and I get a ,"system not responding", for most of that time.

 

Again just a thought, but perhaps some of you aren't giving the sim time to load, or giving up when you see the ,'system not responding", message.

Rolled the driver back and works again, suspect it has something to do with The new changes to Nvidia Surrounds Span.
