I've noted that Ifly has released a cockpit builders edition, which helps with networking computers for cockpit builders.

Is this an avenue that it been explored by PMDG, or is something already available to assist with this?

If you have some programming knowledge the sdk should handle that. For premade components (mcp, efis, etc...), some users have already developed drivers for them to work.

One thing is the interfacing between aircraft systems and hardware (e.g OVH-Panel, etc.). This issue is part of the SDK.

 

But there are serveral other things like the ussage of the single Displays on external Montitors in a network environment. I think for now there are no discussions or solutions for this issues.

Below this thread you will find often a banner for the jetmax solution, stating it to be working with the pmdg 737NGx.

This setup has everyting a cockpit builder is looking for

Separate PFD/ND

separate EICAs

Hardware switches (landing gear, auto brake)

Hardware annunciators (landing gear, flaps extension, speedbrake armed, etc)

Prebuilt units (MCP?EFIS)

 

They explicitly state in their FAQ this setup works with PMDG 737NGx and this was shortly after the SDK was released.

So although i have no knowledge of how this was achieved it goes to show it can be done.

 

I have ordered my mip panels(DST) so i guess i will have to find out how this can be done in a few months from now.

I am especially looking for info how to interface the switches and annunciators
