April 25, 201214 yr During takeoff I like to control the vertical profile myself, i.e. when to set climb power and start the flap cleanup stage, so I takeoff with the VNAV off. So my normal setup is Autothrittle On, VNAV Off, LNAV Armed, the FMS cleanup and Power reduction setting remain at default 1500ft AGL. During initial climb at 1500 AGL I am about to say "Set Climb Thrust" when the engine settings change to Climb automatically. What is causing this as I only thought the auto climb power reduction would only occur with the VNAV engaged ? Glen Glen

Glen Hi, Some aircraft are equipped with autothrust reduction, it's an airline option and you can change it in the pmdg options, it also doesn't need VNAV engaged. Climb thrust can be selected by pushing the N1 switch. I don't remember where exactly, but it's there. Damien WeekesCaptain 737NG / A319/20/21
April 25, 201214 yr Author Thanks Damien I didn't realise it was in the Options somewhere, I just assumed it was a VNAV on or off function. Glen Glen
April 28, 201214 yr Author Just an update on this one. I asked in the PMDG forum how to turn off the 'Auto Climb Power Reduction' so I could use the FS2Crew "Set Climb Thrust" command. I got a reply from Tabs saying you can't, its on all the time, as the FMS software is modelled on version U10.8A. Glen

Ya the manuals need to be revised, that's something that slipped through the cracks as there was basically a "migration" of procedures from the iFly version which models/modeled different FMC software to PMDG, at that time there's was 10.7, PMDG is 10.8a. I was thinking of the iFly options, I knew i saw it in options somewhere. Regards Damien WeekesCaptain 737NG / A319/20/21
