April 25, 201214 yr Hi all, Just wondering if anyone can recommend a DA-40 that is primarily -accurate- when it comes to the flight model? thanks, Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
April 26, 201214 yr The only DA-40 that I'm aware of for FSX is Iris's, and I have no experience with it. Hopefully someone else can speak to whether or not that's a worthwhile product. I'm sure there are some reviews as well. Lionheart Creations is also working on a DA-40, but it might be a while before that's out. Jonathan Monreal Visit A Flightsim Blog
April 26, 201214 yr I own Iris' Diamond Twinstar which is quite similar to the DA 40. It has a pretty decent flight model. It had a few problems with the brakes, but this was already addressed by a hotfix. Other than that, the G1000 is the Microsoft default one, which I don't like too much. That leads to the fact that I don't take her out of the hangar too often. The VC and outside graphics are fine. I hope that helps...
April 26, 201214 yr I have the IRIS Twinstar, and that's not bad, it flies more or less as you'd expect one to. Although to be honest, I have only ever had a five minute go at the controls of a real one, and that was neither the landing nor the take off, but a couple of VFR turns and some level flight, so it was hardly enough to get a real impression of what it flies like in all regimes, so I'm not massively qualified to comment on what a real one drives like. Nevertheless, I think the IRIS one is okay and I like it, although I must admit that I thought it was a bit of a memory hog for what it was compared to all the other IRIS stuff which is generally pretty good in that regard, and courtesy of that mad sale they had a while back, I do have pretty much everything IRIS has made in order to be able to make that comparison. April 26, 201214 yr Author Thanks all- The reason I'm primarily interested in the flight model is because I'm planning on making my own panel anyway to mimic the real world DA40 I'm using for training, as it's the half-steam, half-glass (530/430 combo) style cockpit. Honestly, I don't even need a visual model, as the setup I use is my own panel/all instruments on my primary monitor, and radio stack with GPS and just a tiny out-the-window view for takeoffs and finals on my second monitor. The computer is not that great, but I have most everything turned off anyway. I have the RealityXP N, T, and 430 currently and they're working out pretty well :) cheers Andrew H e l p k e e p A V S I M f l y i n g
