April 28, 201214 yr Just starting out with the program. Like any other voice recognition/command facility, the trigger phrases can have subtle differences in them, and if not said quite correctly, they won't work. Getting a drink/coffee, although a trivial example, is a good one. Sure, once you've used it a few times, you get it, but this is an FS2Crew newbie request. In addition, some seldom used commmands, may need a quick look at the docs. Is there any way to have a voice command that will trigger a listing (by voice or on the screen) of possible, or at least common possible commands that the program is waiting for? In particular in a checklist, there is usually only one correct phrase expected for a challenge. If you are met with silence, it would be nice to be able to just say, help, or say choice, or whatever, and have the correct response read out or at least hinted at. Just a thought. * Orest Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
April 28, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hi Orest, If you get stuck on a checklist, you can just say "SET" or "NEXT". As for displaying a full list of every possible command on the screen... possible... but why not just print out the Voice Commands section in the manual? That'd be easier than having your screen obscured by a big list of possible commands. Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
April 28, 201214 yr Author The difference is that the command list would be immediately visible, context sensitive, and could clear as soon as you start talking. This shouldn't be visible by default, just summoned by a special command. Of course you might also include a training mode I suppose. One of the reasons many folks abandon voice command facilities, whether in a car, at the computer, or perhaps with FS2Crew, is the forgetting of the precise phrases, or never learning them in the first place. Not a criticism, just an observation. It might help improve newbie recruitment. This would be particularly useful for the checklists - much more efficient training than looking away at a booklet, especially if you are in the midst of flying. I do have the docs printed in booklet format, and that is what I'm using. * Orest Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
April 29, 201214 yr Author Oddly, quite a bit of the text in the installed PDF manuals is graphical, and not searchable. Makes it much harder to use it as a reference, in particular to find key phrases. Can you advise? Is there another documentation somewhere? * Orest Orest Skrypuch President & CEO, UVA www.united-virtual.com
April 30, 201214 yr Commercial Member Hi Orest, Use the on-line manual. The link is available via the FS2Crew Config Manager. It has a great search function. Cheers, B. York FS2Crew Web Site / FS2Crew Facebook Page / FS2Crew Discord
