April 27, 200422 yr I don't know if you've already heard this, but it seems that LAGO have lost (got ridden off..) some more good folks the last days. I'm not a poster at the lago-forum but I've been following the latest months of harsh discussions over there, and often felt sorry for Daniel, always trying to help out with quite a lot of unsatisfied customers.. And now when they finally seem to have something good going again they fire him??!! Well, perhaps he's better off with someone else...rgrds fredrik granfors http://forum.videogame.it/showthread.php?threadid=10177
April 27, 200422 yr That's a pity. A couple of years ago, I considered buying a LAGO product, but had problems downloading the Demo version. After sending an e-mail to support, I got a very rude response from someone other that Daniel. I decided not to purchase any LAGO product, and it would only have been the presence of someone like Daniel that could have persuaded me to change my mind - it looks like I won't own a LAGO product any time soon...Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg
April 27, 200422 yr Unfortunately I am quite sure that this means the very end of Lago.I really looked forward to their Mad Dog 2004 which would be the only serious atempt to make a high end MD-80 system. But I guess that will never happen now. :-(R.I.P. April 27, 200422 yr Hi Folks,UNFORTUNATELY I bought the FSE2004 pack for christmas, waiting fruitlessly until today to reach its full promised functionality. Boy do I feel ripped, especially since browsing their forum, there's clear to read that FSE was released with KNOWN SERIOUS flaws. So not even paying beta-tester, but alpha-tester?To be honest, I could not care less what happens to them AFTER the (again delayed) service pack release. I'll stick with ISD (mostly) or SimFlyers for italian airports and thats it.LAGO has definitely lost my confidence in delivering and I will never ever do business with them again!Thor
April 27, 200422 yr I bought some of the Georenders without reading up on Lago first. No wonder they were so buggy :-lol -
April 27, 200422 yr Lago has been struggling for many months. Staffing is a continuing issue. They seem to use sub-contractors to produce products with follow-on support by in-house staff. This has been mis-managed into a status that probably defies further operations. Executive Management does not seem to be focused on the business which leads one to believe that they have other outside interests. Can Lago survive? Staff attrition by way of voluntary, as well as summary sackings, appears to indicate a very limited future life. As one who has purchased a product (FSE) from them I am disappointed to say the least. Several products have suffered a similar fate of being released with a promise of future patches to bring them to their stated levels of functionality. That does not now seem likely. If it happens fine, but future purchases from Lago will not occur.Dick Boley @KLBE regards, Dick near Pittsburgh, USA
April 27, 200422 yr Lago originally sold FSE as having object import and export available. After about a week it finally became know that this capability was not available. Then a month after the release Lago updated this feature as available soon. Along with making other small changes in the feature list. Notice number 12 on the first list dated 12/18/03 the date of FSE release and then notice the change that was made on 01/23/04 to (available soon). Four months later (available soon) is still being shown at the lago website and the Simflight.com website still list Object import and export available as of 04/27/04.This is dishonest. I believe its called bait and switch!Original List of features shown on Simflight.com on 12/19/03 that is still the current feature list there.1 - The easiest way of enhancing scenery, all inside FS, no source files, no compiling2 - If you can slew you can use FSE. 3 - 100% WYSIWYG, all effects, objects and sounds you will see and hear immediately in FS. 4 - All objects can be combined, scaled, moved, rotated and deleted. 5 - 600+ objects to use (many in day and night (with lights) versions)6 - For all objects you determine when they are seen (based on time and season) 7 - Large collection of high quality sound files that can be inserted at any location with a simple key command. 8 - All objects can have sounds added to them, so you will HEAR the cow you see. 9 - All objects can be animated (moved over track by simply moving the object one time) 10- As an object moves along a track the sound moves with it. 11- The tracks can be looped and will be automatically closed so you do not need to end up exactly at your starting position. 12- Can import ALL wav files and ALL BGL Library objects created by users13- Easy way of sharing files between users. April 27, 200422 yr You guys are on a roll and I hate to be the satisfied customer that speaks out.... I have purchased the Tornado, Falcon, Twin Otter, the Georender sceneries, and the Roaring 30's and find them to be very good quality and not very expensive. I have also been to their forum many times and received great treatment for my questions and comments. It is too bad to hear they are having troubles. I see Mathijis went to Aerosoft, so maybe that is a sign of things to come for them. Mathijis has been very helpful to me in the past at Lago. From what I have read Lago has gone through many changes over the years. Hopefully they will recover and be able to stay strong.:)
April 27, 200422 yr It's not the `name` that matters when you're being asked to do business with them, it's the reputation demonstrated by the commitment.Aerosoft have it. Lago don't. Good bye Lago. Wonder how long before the Lago developers switch sides?Allcott
April 27, 200422 yr Allcott:>>Wonder how long before the Lago developers switch sides? As I understand it, Lago's developers are contractors. I guess they'll write for Lago as long as Lago pays them too, unless they get a better offer that leaves no time for Lago.Richard
April 27, 200422 yr To be honest I must say that some of Lagos earlier work was really impressive, I bought both Torino and Venice, and the Venice-scenery still amazes me each time! Probably one of the best looking sceneries ever, so it is a real pity that things've gone the way they've gone... Well well... Och jag h
