Calibrating joysticks using FSUIPC

Featured Replies

Can someone explain to me how to calibrate a joystick using FSUIPC, or point me to a post?I have read the documentation with FSUIPC (3.212) and have to admit I don't understand what to do, or if it will actually be effective with FS2004.Thanks for your help.

I can try, but since I'm not in front of my FS PC, this will be from recall, which is admittedly not what it used to be...there's a good section at THE END of the FSUIPC user guide that explains axis calibration pretty well. It's after the .cfg editing section which is pretty deep.1.) Make sure your control device is calibrated in Windows using the control panel before starting FS.2.) Go to the FSUIPC joystick tab.3.) Click the set button in the axis you wish to calibrate - I'll use throttle for this example, as that's the most useful, in my opinion.4.) Move the throttle all the way down and click the min button.5.) Move the throttle all the way up, and click the max button.6.) If you want to model reverse thrust, move your throttle to a low indent or minimal position, and press the center button. Be sure to check the map to 4 throttles box if you have only one throttle.7.) For other axes, if you want to define null zones, move the stick just a hair up/left and click center button, then move it just a bit in the other direction and click the center button again to define the opposite limit of the null zone. Adjust 'just a hair' and 'just a bit' to your liking to define the null zone.8.) If you mess up, click reset. Start over.I find the throttle calibration extremely useful, other axes not so much, but then I have a digital USB joystick which calibrates dynamically, so I haven't really needed the others...Hope that helps,sg
