April 27, 200422 yr I am considering a weather add-on. Is there a good comparison somewhere of all the weather programs, like Active Sky, FS Meteo, and FS Metar?I am not just going to talk about my weather - I am actually going to do something about it. So, what is the advice for those who are looking for the best place to spend their weather wampum? Thanks to all who make this forum so entertaining and informative. Every hobby should be so fortunate!
April 28, 200422 yr I used active sky for FS2k2 and for a little bit with FS9. I found that the default weather serves my purpose just fine. I used the money I saved for and airport add-on. Just my opinion. Andrew
April 28, 200422 yr Default weather suits me just fine. With some of those add-ons you need to tweak them for best performance, as in unchecking some of the features, or messing with their config files. But if you want to spend your "wampum" and still have to do that, I'm sure that you will get many other suggestions. Also, it will be another program running in the background, taking up your system resources.
April 28, 200422 yr I used Active Sky for FS 2002 and 2004. I couldnt think of flying with out it. Even when my pc was low end I used it for each flight even for a five minute test flight of a new download. The realism of the weather I get out of Active sky is far superior to FS weather.
April 28, 200422 yr FS Metar is free - and better than the default weather. Worth a try. For me, I love AS2004; I haven't had to tweak it at all more than I had to tweak the default weather, although you can get some pretty complicated cloud scapes which may impact performance on some rigs. I can't fly without it now. In fact, after my recent hard drive failure, it was the first thing i installed after FS9...Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
