May 3, 200422 yr Hi,I have a very annoying problem with fs2004: during final approach everything is super-smooth, but a few moments before touchdown, about 10-20 feet above the runway, I get several very annoying stutters (three or four), after that everything is smooth again. Those stutters completely f%$
May 3, 200422 yr You could try the following: Posistion the default Cessna at the end of a really long runway, take off, climb to about 100ft or so and then land on the same runway (i.e. don't fly a pattern, just land straight away). If the stutters still happen, then it's something related to your aircraft, if not then it must be something FS is loading just before touchdown.Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg
May 3, 200422 yr Go into the FS9 directory, open the autogen folder. Rename the file there to default.xml.bak. The cause of your problem is most likely the new autogen scenery in FS9 (chicken restaurants, etc), that starts to generate around airports while you are on final approach. Happened to me, after I got rid of that autogen using the above fix, all was well. BTW, I believe this and other items can be found at the posting pinned at the top of this forum--Tips and Tricks. I would have included a reference to that specific post, but could not remember which post had this tip in it. Paul
May 3, 200422 yr You might also try the Airport Environment Upgrade textures. They significantly lower the resolution of the default runway textures, thus improving performance during landing and taking off. They also look better than the default, I think. The version you want is aeu6ex. Should be here on Avsim.Lee Lee H i9 13900KF 64GB Ram 24GB RTX 4090
May 3, 200422 yr While the textures in aeu6ex.zip are smaller than the original textures in aeu6.zip, they are still larger than the default textures.Kurt M
May 3, 200422 yr Hi Lee,thanks for your reply, I already went through the tweaking guide, and renamed the default.xml - it has to be something else :-(
May 3, 200422 yr I get it ON the touchdown, and that's because the sim has to load the ground roll/tires sounds. It's pretty annoying. 512mb ddr400 is not enough?!?
May 3, 200422 yr If you can afford it, buy a faster machine, even if you can'tafford it. Hope this has been helpful.Peter Sydney Australia
