May 6, 200422 yr Does FS9 ATC actively separate aircraft in the air? While it certainly does on the ground and will issue a go around if there is an aircraft on the runway you are about to land on, once in the air there it seems separation standards aren't applied. Yesterday I was at the end of a flight in my brand new PSS A340-200 on short final to NZAA 23L and cleared to land when this Qantas 737 cut right across my flightpath and was then cleared to land on 23L as well. I was aware from the TCAS that this character was nearby but I expected him to be vectored away as I had been cleared to land. But nothing doing he just kept getting closer and closer. Also, is FS9 ATC aware of the varying transition levels around the world? On a previous flight I was at 11000 ft and above the local 10000 transition level (so at standard pressure 1013) and ATC kept on insisting that I was 300 feet above my assigned altitude and that the QNH (altimeter) was 1022(FSMeteo had the local QNH as 1016). I ignored these requests, but as a result my ATC support was summarily terminated!Grateful for any observations.Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened." May 7, 200422 yr The short answer to your questions is no. The ATC will warn you of an approaching plane, if you are lucky. The ATC does not model holding patterns, so there is no way for it to properly separate aircraft. You just have to do it yourself (it can get tough into busy airports). Turn off collisions with other aircraft as well so you don't lose a flight because of an AI plane. No on transition altitudes as well. Maybe in fs2006... I really would love to see the ATC model holds, sids and stars, but I'm probably dreaming. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
May 7, 200422 yr Author Thanks for that clarification, Radar Contact is starting quite to look quite good.Bruce Bruce Bartlett Frodo: "I wish none of this had happened."
