June 7, 201214 yr Author Dorian, Thanks very much for the texture.zip file. Unfortunately there was nothing there that was not already in my NZCH texture folder. I wonder if you could reply to this post with a zipped copy of the file nzch.bgl, which contains the information for the terminals. It may be that yours is different from mine. Do you see the terminals and buildings as in the above screenshot, but with texture? If so, I can only think that it is the nzch.bgl file now.... Thanks again, I apprecaite yuor help! June 7, 201214 yr You have mail. Yes, I do see the above and it is fully textured. I know John Haines released a second version of the NZCH.bgl to interact with the (then) new 20m Mesh released by Christian Stock back in 2005. I have sent you this version (I do have the original if that doesn't work). Regards, Dorian
June 7, 201214 yr Author Thanks again Dorian, but I seem fated not to have this airport working! RapidShare won't let me download the file you kindly uploaded there - "RapidPro is necessary to start multiple downloads simultaneously." No idea what that means as I am only trying to download one file .. I tried on a different PC, but it won't let me in. As this is not an unauthorised tweak by a 3rd, party, I think AVSIM rules allow you to upload the two zipped bgl files to this thread, as an attachment. Really sorry to cause you the trouble, if you are willing to try that! Regards, Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
June 7, 201214 yr Author Hi.. thanks a lot for the bgl file you emailed me Dorian. But I am at a loss. I still have exactly the same texturelss buildings as in the screenshot. I tried moving all the bmp files in the texture folder you sent me earlier into the main FS9/texture folder, but still nothing. That makes me think that the bmp files needed are not in the NZCH texture folder at all. Nor in the FS9/texture folder. I have installed every RWy12 and EZ scenery library I can find - I have huge texture folders, but still nothing. If you are not TOTALLY fed up of trying to help, I wonder if you could try another thing when you have time. If you temporarily move the NZCH texture folder outside of FS9, so that it can't find the bitmaps, do you still get textured buildings where mine are blank? If so, then I guess you have some textures elsewhere in your FS9 folders that I am missing. What a pain!!!! But thanks again for your help in this. Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
June 7, 201214 yr Author In the hope of getting a working version of the photo-real NZCH, I have gone back meanwhile to Ian Warren' scenery and adapted Owen Mitchell's AFCAD (all thanks to him for the work, I have just tweaked it slightly) so that there is a parking spot which is outside the building crash zone. If you load NZCH, choose Gate 43, and all should be well. The file is here: https://rapidshare.c...54/AF2_NZCH.zip Still totally mystified by the elusive terminal textures however. Why would anyone upload an airport with so much blank scenery? Very odd... Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
June 8, 201214 yr G'day Martin, Well, removed the NZCH texture folder, and, guess what ... there are no textures (for the entire airport). Period. Full stop. Using Martin Wright's TView the "offending" file is: airport2.bmp (dxt1 2048x2048 16 bit bmp) and airport2_lm.bmp which covers the domestic and international terminals. As to why it is not working ... ? Regards, Dorian
June 8, 201214 yr Author Amazing!! So what gives in my setup?? I will investigate those specific bmp files and see what I can do. I also have an 'out-of-the-box' installation of FS9 on another PC, which I use for testing purposes. I'll install NZCH on that and see if I still get blank textures. Thanks for your willingness to assist on this - it's much appreciated, as I say. Will report back of course, Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
June 8, 201214 yr Author OK, tried this on my other PC (Windows XP) and all is fine. So why won't these bitmaps show on my Windows 7 PC? I tried converting them to DXT3 format, but no change. At a loss now.. M. Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
June 8, 201214 yr Author OK... SOLVED !!! First I deleted airport2.bmp and airport2_LM.bmp. Then I copied one of the other airport bitmaps - airport58.bmp - and renamed it airport2.bmp. Now I had a texture at the terminal, but the wrong one.. So I opened a number of the other airport*.bmp files using DXTBMP (bitmap editor). What is immediately obvious is that they are all 1024x1024 in size, unlike airport2.bmp and airport2_LM.bmp, which are 2048x2048. So I again opened those two files with DXTBMP and sent them to Photoshop, where I changed the size to 1024x1024 and saved them. Then used DXTBMP to reconvert them to extended bitmaps (DXT1 with alpha).. and hey presto, textures in FS9. I had a few other objects at NZCH with no textures too, and by changing a few more files to 1024x1024 now have a fully-textured NZCH! Thanks again for the help!! Martin Martin Stebbing, EGLF (UK)
