FSX cannot RUN during.....

Featured Replies

I was in my return flight from Easter Island SCIP to Mexico City MMMX. 200 nm to destination. Suddenly FSX stopped, Five minutes later Task Manager reported FSX is Running. Then I received the following warning

"Flight Simulator cannot run during a Remote Desktop Session and will exit"

I never see this warning . Do you know why did happen?

Thanks

I only get that if someone else logs into my machine. Did someone try to remote in?

Thanks for your reply.

I don't think so. I didn't realize any one try to remote in?

Now, I am not so sure. My Account settings was low level. I immediately will increase to "High" level

I think I'd install a firewall. If you switch users you'll get the same message.

I have FSX Deluxe with Acceleration Expansion Pack many years. That is the first time I saw this warning. I just checked your windows compatibility link. It says Deluxe version is not compatible with Windows 7 64 bit.. FSX Gold edition is compatible with 64 bit.,

What do you recommend?

Gregg,

"I think I'd install a firewall"

I have Norton and Windows firewall , Both of them active. Do I need some different firewall?

I just sort of wonder if the error is bogus, related to something else. If you have Norton Firewall it should have replaced the Windows Firewall...you probably aren't running both. The only thing I'd suggest along these lines is open the settings for the Firewall and look and see what ports are open...see if Remote Access is allowed. Again, the same error comes up if you switch users which, to me, is far more likely (unless you were sitting there and know that didn't happen). You might also want to disable screen savers and other software that is running in the background.

Thanks for your info. You are correct, Norton takes over from Windows firewall. I will check it other items.

Gregg,

Same here! FSX Deluxe with Acceleration and I have ran just FSX Deluxe w/o problems too so do not understand Microsoft's statement it is incompatible. FSX Gold is the same as FSX Deluxe/Acceleration only in one package rather than two. If you are not running FSX in XP compatibility mode, then the link I provided is not the fix for you. But, as you can see, the person who asked the question had the same error as you had reported. Gregg may be on the right track in regards to the firewall. If not, perhaps someone else has a solution.

Best regards,

Jim

If you do get another error what I *would* do is immediately open your event log and see if there's any event just prior to the problem. Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Events. You need to look in the Applications, Security and System areas. There may be an event log for Norton Firewall too but I use Microsoft Security Essentials instead (and I like it a lot more than Norton...and it's free...my cheapo side coming out again. LOL.)

I made 8 Hours long flight, nothing happened. May be it was so isolated case.. but I will continue to monitor and I will try to catch events reports

Thanks for your help
