June 13, 201213 yr I just have installed a SSD drive in my system and I want to move my P3D installation from my HD to this SSD (from D:\P3d to E:\P3D). Does anyone have a suggestion how to move this without the need of a complete new installation of P3D and my add-ons?
June 13, 201213 yr Just copy over the whole bunch and be sure to name/label the SSD as drive D: Be sure that you rename your older D: drive to another free station letter first after you copied the content. Veel succes toegewenst...
June 13, 201213 yr Author Simba, thanks for your suggestion, but since there are many other programs installed on my D-drive this will not work for me.
June 14, 201213 yr Commercial Member You can try this. Copy to the E: drive and fix the shortcuts so they can find the program in the new location. I'm not sure this will work with all addons aircraft that you may have since some of them save the location in the registry. You will have to edit those as well. Basically it is painless to just reinstall everything in the new drive. Less errors this way. PS: Ask in the Official P3D forum. Perhaps they have a better idea about what you need to do.
June 14, 201213 yr Author Zeus, I tried your suggestion, but in the end it is too much work to change all of the registry keys that refer to the old drive. So I did uninstall P3D and reinstalled it on the new drive. This was a rather quick process. On the old drive the P3D uninstaller left the add-on files in place, so it was easy to see and copy what was added (mostly manually) by me to the P3D directory. The re-installation did not ask for a serial by the way, so this information remains stored somewhere. In the end this is the best and cleanest solution. Thank you for your input.
