elevation height for rwy outlines in HGS

Recommended Posts

Good evening ;-)

Just a quick question. How can I find out the correct elevation height, to put in the HGS control panel, for an ILS approach? So that the outlines of the runway are correct displayed in the HGS. Thanks alot for any kind of advice,

Go to the FMC Index, select NAV DATA, and then enter the ICAO code for the airport - that'll give you elevation; you can add a runway to get length, too, though that'll be in your approach page later.

Edit: also, quick method: look at your Legs page for the VNAV height for the arrival runway - there's your height, though it doesn't always seem to correspond with what you get from the above.

I use the elevation shown on the approach chart but sometimes I cheat and look at the CDU legs page. This shows the runway height plus 50 feet I think.

Charts for me usually, but be aware that the FSX world and the real world are rarely in sync on these values. Best thing is probably to look at the FSX map page or something - airports have the same elevation everywhere on their grounds in FSX, there's no slopes, so whatever number is shown there is probably going to be as close as you can get.
