May 19, 200422 yr I wonder how the weather is simulated if I use timecompression. For example at time 8x during 10 minutes gametime, will the(nonstatic weather) weather change be estimated for 80 minutes or 10 minutes. If I use realtime weather I suppose it must 10 minutes. But if I use for example ActiveSky and use some archived weatherwill I get correct weather at the correct time?
May 19, 200422 yr With respect to ActiveSky2004, if you enable TAF processing and set the program to use FS time rather than system time, you will get weather according to forecast predictions that are accurate to the accelerated time. You may need to fiddle with some other settings such as update interval or press the refresh button. The TAF forecasts are usually quite accurate with a 24-hr window...Best, [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
May 20, 200422 yr We do not recommend using time compression and AS2004.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
May 20, 200422 yr >We do not recommend using time compression and AS2004.>So if I wan't to make a flight as realistic as possible I dobest in not using timecompression. A little inconvenient if youwan't to make longer flight. And of course you would like to doprecisely that if you use AS2004. Because time (and also distance)is needed for the weather to change.
May 20, 200422 yr Quite a paradox. [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
May 20, 200422 yr You can do what you think is best for your type of flying. But if you 8X across an ocean please do not wonder why you are getting inaccurate weather after your crossing. There is no way for AS to "keep up". To answer the question in your first post: no, you will not get accurate weather with time compression, especially 8X.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
May 20, 200422 yr But what about 4x or 2x? Also I would like to know how archived weather works. Is it one initial situation on which the computer makes calculation as time proceed? Or is it several weather situation at a number of specific timeintervall? And does it not matter how powerful your computer is?
May 21, 200422 yr OK, lets try this again! Time compression, at any level, is not recommended while using AS. Again, what you do on your computer is up to you. No, it does not matter on how powerful your computer is!Archived weather is a six hour snapshot of actual weather that is saved on our server that a user downloads and uses it in Offline Mode. Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
