Prepar3D Freezes at Startup

Featured Replies

Hi,

My Prepar3D launches ok, but freezes within seconds of the full screen airplane at startup. I cannot even launch the taskbar manager (Win7 64)...need cold restart the machine. No issues with FSX (works fine)

Installation & activation went fine, with DirectX & .NET client installed ok during setup.

Launched as Admin & Prepar3D froze after the full screen airplane appears.

Same freeze everytime I launch Prepar3D.

- To correct the problem, I did the following:

I did a REPAIR option during using Prepar3D Setup from flat installer run as admin

Installed Directx 9c from Microsoft site

Removed .NET framework 4.0 extended & client

Reistalled NET framework 4.0 extended & client downloaded from Microsoft

Disconnected rudder pedals, throttle (both CH) & Saitek yoke

After all that...Same freeze within seconds of the full screen airplane at startup.

I also attempted running in Win7 compatibity mode but same freeze happens as well.

- Any Suggestions Would Be Appreciated, please

thxs

Are you running it as an Administrator?

Just a few thoughts.

I see you "are" running w/ admin rights.

I would make "sure" that Prepar3D is in the root of C: and NOT in program files(86). I learned this the hard way with Win7 64 and FSX.

I would make sure UAC is turned off

I would make sure that your virus protection is "making exceptions" for p3d.exe

Lastly, I would download Game Booster (it's free)....it will close down processes that aren't needed and you will gain a few fps's.

If none of that works, I would look in task manager for processes that you "could end" - maybe something is interferring with P3d.

I also use Saitek X52 Pro / CH Pedals etc.

I just won't go back to FSX after three months with Prepar3D.

I have the same problem when i install squawkbox and and i try to use 3 monitor with surround (5780 x 1080). Without squawkbox, doing very well or with squawkbox and single monitor.......

Success...Many thanks for all of your suggestions.

All it took was installing to C:\Prepar3D, instead of default C:\Program Files (x86)...

Prepar3D runs fine now.

thxs again for your help
