May 26, 200422 yr Not many people know this,(as Michael Caine would say), but under settings/controls/assignments there is the possibility of setting up a Texture Refresh key.I've set mine to Shift/T. It is quite fast and cleans up the textures nicely. If you've been flying fast or slewing or are getting stutters in the turns, just hit the key and in a couple of seconds, textures are refreshed. Much faster than pausing and waiting for textures to "catch up". Also useful for setting up airport textures on finals. Makes for a smooth landing and taxi. John
May 26, 200422 yr Thanks, John. This was helpfully posted some time back but I lost the information. Very useful for repainters too.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
May 26, 200422 yr I use CTRL SHFT . Decided to do it because if I minimise the FS window for some reason, like browsing the web or something, and I leave it minimised for more than a couple of minutes, when I go back to it, all textures, clouds, everything has disappeared and takes quite a while to reload. Using the refresh key reloads it much faster. Also, if you hit CTRL W in spot view, you switch focus to an AI airplane. Some of these are quite far from you so that when you return to your airplane, the textures around you are gone. Again, using scenery refresh re-loads them really quickly.
May 26, 200422 yr Thanks for the headsup John: Great piece of info. The learing cycle never ends does it. (Unfortunately, the human memory does.)Thanks again:RTH
May 29, 200422 yr Sounds like a great tip but my eyesight is failing me....I can't find a Texture Refresh item in the assignments box. I have found Refresh Scenery, is that the one?Cheers,Ian
May 29, 200422 yr That's the one. Apologies for the wrong title. I was responding from my office. FS not available. (Honest!:-)) John
May 29, 200422 yr Nice One John.I posted this one a very long time ago, I just use the left arrow key,(the 4 little arrow keys separate to the rest of the KB)I use that for ''Refresh Scenery, the other three are used for, Open Door, Tail Hook Down/Up, and Water Rudder Down/Up as these things do other things other that water rudder and tail hook with add-on aircraft.Steve
