July 17, 201213 yr Hey Glenn, Nice to see you have the J41....she is a beauty! My only advice to you is make sure you get FS2Crew for this. The voice control and interaction with the copilot is astounding and with the workload shared between 2 it makes it much more pleasurable. Glenn I second the motion. The J41 isn't for everyone. I saw more than my fair share of engine fires before I got through the learning curve. Once you've "mastered" flying the J41 solo, you'll find FS2Crew makes the J41 a pleasure to fly and, for some, their new favorite aircraft. Larry
July 17, 201213 yr FS2Crew is a basic requirement for anyone serious about simming in multi-pilot aircraft in my opinion :P. I always love to read how people spent a lot of effort learning systems and procedures to be as realistic as possible, and then simply fly an A3x0/7x7 as single pilot .
July 17, 201213 yr Good Morning People, Thanks for the info and whatnot. Kyle and JR - great information there - thanks! Glenn, Larry & Intrance - thanks . Yes, I'm considering FS2Crew. It'll likely be on my list shortly, but I really want to get to know this plane well first. So far no hints of engine fires after the first 10 or 12 hours, so I think I'll be able to avoid that (I used to fly Beavers RW and on hot summer days, you really had to baby them as well ) ). Once I get more familiar in all normal circumstances with it, I'll then look seriously at "delegating" some responsibilities <LOL>. Do you guys know if FS2Crew is also compatible with the 737NG? I got those recently as well, although I likely won't actually be flying them for a month or so ("Manual Reading" before "Auto Flying" if you know what I mean ). Thanks guys, this has been a really big help. Oh and Glenn - it already is my favourite machine ! Glenn Davy
July 17, 201213 yr The J41 is about as big as I go! Whilst she can be managed by one, I find the workload incredibly high for single piloting. I think you will really appreciate FS2Crew once you get into her a bit more. As for the NG, FS2Crew is a separate product per addon, so the J41 version is specific to the J41 etc. You would need to buy the NG version separately. July 18, 201213 yr Ah, ok. Thanks Glenn. So far I've not found the workload excessive. Now I have some buttons on my THQ assigned to eyepoint movements so I can get around the cockpit pretty quickly, but I really mostly just use those for the preflight checks. Having worked on Jetstreams before the cockpit is fairly familiar to me which helps a lot. At some point I might look into FS2Crew, but at the moment things are good :).
