Preferred season and time?

One of my favorite scenarios are Isolated Thunderstorms and Low and Threatning at dusk.

Forgot to mention that the screenshots above were taken spring and summer.

Heavy Weather (dawn, day or dusk) in the summer (or any season) is another of my favorites as seen in these pictures:

Took a flight tonight from Fairbanks to Kodiak using Gmap and Plan G. I selected isolated T-storms as the weather. Beginning of flight was uneventful, crusing at about 8,500 feet in the Maule. Gradually the clouds started getting thicker and then the CAT ( clear air turbulence) started up. At one point I was seeing almost a 3,000 FPM climb rate followed by an equally impressive sink rate along with wild excursions of airspeed and heading. I have been in some really heavy IFR in a C P210 with an IFR rated ATP, and this Flight weather was as real as it if gets. I am just blown away by the clouds, weather generation and the effect on the aircraft, for the realism that it creates. Never, ever saw this in any PC sim I have flown and I had real weather add ons. I was actually sweating at one point wondering if I could land the Maule when I got to Kodiak. Finally as I got lower on the approach, the turbulence subsided and I made a good landing, which often happens in real life too.

Here are two screen shots, one where the clouds are starting to thicken and the buffeting is beginning, and the second, where we are really in the soup and the vis is zero.

Even though it looks like a night time shot, this was a minute or so after the first shot as I flew into this really thick CN cloud.

Seems like every time I fly this sim, it is an experience.......

Loving this Plan-G program too. It lets you quickly print the flight plan like an FAA flight plan, whcih has all the data on if for heading, altitude, time of flight, frequencies at arrival and departure airports. runway lengths and direction, etc.. Really cool to fly with, and I also found out that you can overlay the flight plan line over the sectional, if you have those installed in Gmap. Great add-on to Flight.
