Ai performace advantage

Featured Replies

Is there a perfomance advantage to using Ardvark AI aircraft versus the default A/C? I ask because I would like to being using other AI, but do not want to take a huge hit on FPS. Thanks for those with the knowledge and patience to answer me!

I replaced my default aircraft (at least those used for AI) with their "made for AI" counterparts. Huge improvement in AI performance, IMHO--in some instances (at airports like SLC) performance was almost the same, with or without AI.However, what many people often do is use the "made for AI" aircraft and they compile traffic.bgl's containing more than the default MSFS traffic. That can cause performance to slide back down....Hope this helps...-John

I strongly suggest you search this forum on this topic. There is a lot of useful information which will go towards answering your question. If you only want to replace the default AI then yes, the Aardvaark planes will improve performance but you might want to look at increasing the number of your AI flightplans and installing further AI planes in which case the virtual world is your ...erm...virtual oyster!Good luck

Yes, I've noticed a definite fps improvement also. And they look terrific....a win-win.Todd

I went ahead and purchased Ultimate Traffic and I've never been happier. the world looks real with the liveries and the frame rate isn't too bad unless I'm at a big airport and have ai at 100%

Hi all,I have started to use PAI aircraft. Does anybody know how they compare to Aardvark and to default MS in terms of performance? Thanks,Phil

Just to clarify my earlier response, I was referring to the difference between PAI and Aardvark. Definitely easier on frame rates and better looking. But PAI still have models you can't find anywhere else.Todd

I'm no expert, but received wisdom seems to be that Aardvark and AI-NZ aircraft are best for AI.I think I'm right in saying that Aardvark achieve good frame rates by having maximum Levels Of Detail whereas AI-NZ go for fewer LOD's but lower polygon counts.I've got loads of both and am very happy with the appearance of all of them. In fact they look better than most of the equivalent Project AI models to be truthful.Website for AI-NZ ishttp://www.arnz.myhost.co.nz/but search the AVSIM library for additional repaints - only a proportion are listed on the website.AI-NZ cover B737 and B737NG, B767 and B767 freight, Airbus A319 to A321 and Concorde. There is a B757 coming soon I think.AI-NZ have the advantage over Aardvark that they come with Animated Inbuilt Scenery - i.e. when on the ground they are surrounded with service vehicles and a tractor appears when its time for pushback. I haven't noticed any performance hit with that.Aardvark has a bigger range of aircraft types and a more comprehensive(and amusing) website.Project AI is still the best place for airline flight plans and aircraft types not covered by Aardvark or AI-NZ.

Look at these new models.www.tiscalinet.ch/schellhammerThey replace your PAI Airbusses and are as frame rate friendly as AI Aardvark. It was my intension to comlement them.
