Nothing beats flying for real. But there are certain things you're better off doing in a simulator B) . Best of luck with your training.

Thanks! Appreciate your help. AVSIM should pay people like you for unofficial tech support  .

Just one more question: Would you recommend overclocking my card? Or simply reduce anti aliasing and FSX graphics settings?

laptops generally have a very limited thermal headroom. They are generally designed to just to cope with the heat generated at stock clocks so I doubt you'll be able to overclock much. That's why a desktop is a lot better, but you can't use that on the go and it takes up a lot more space as well. Lowering AA and/or sliders will most likely result in more performance difference. Just out of interest, what AA are you running at the moment?

It's my pleasure to be able to help. What else would you do when you work the night shifts at the queens service awaiting to be loaded up when the FMS is programmed and all briefings and checks have been done. =)

OP: You need to "downgrade" your expectations (and FSX settings) on this laptop, which actually is NOT made for heavy old-code gaming like FSX!

If you have the guts and time, have a look here, for eventual overclocking of your GT525M, because that´s the problem IMO.

Wan´t good performance in FSX from a laptop? Get a Clevo, Asus G75, or something else in that class.

I'm currently using 8xS in Nvidia Inspector. I followed a guide but can't remember which one.

Yes I'll definitely lower some settings. However some sceneries require certain settings (i.e. FlyTampa KTPA requires 5m mesh resolution). Another thing is traffic. I currently use World of Ai but may go to My Traffic X 5.4 as I've heard it's better on fps (less ploygons) but the models and paints aren't as visually pleasing.

As for Overclocking.....ehhhh I"m not too sure. I'm not experienced with it at all and the cooling on my laptop is an issue. I think I'll wait a while and see how things go.

Rig upgrades are out of the picture for me at this point. I've only had this computer for about 8 months, and with University just 2 years away...not sure if spending $2000 CAD on a new rig is a viable option :o.

Thanks for the help guys! Greatly appreciated.
