  1. Well, each his own taste of tweak, I just think it´s a "non-tweak" putting more load on an already loaded GPU/CPU.
  2. Why would anyone in their "right FSX mind" run 2 extra shader passes with water set to high, just to get rid of flashes and glitches from BP=0, when you can get even better performance by doing like Nick: http://www.simforums.com/forums/different-scenarios-different-settings-thats-how_topic41798.html Yep, I know, he´s maybe outdated with all the new stuff around, and he´s grumpy and arrogant, an old, maybe, I guess, not really hip, right??
  3. If you like the horrible shore waves, then you´ll really like "More Waves III" http://www.simviation.com/fsxscenery10.htm Enjoy!
  4. @cobblecat435: Did you try the AMD card with 3 screens? IMO Eyefinity is far better than Nvidia Surround, just turn down the clouds in FSX with AMD, and use the Shader3 Mod, then you are OK.
  5. PDX Flyer: "I probably will eventually buy some of the orbx airports, but their price seems way over blown?" Just wait for the next "Grand OrbX Sale"! B)
  6. On my notebook I generally use Taskmanager to adjust Affinity for the cores I want dis- or enabled. Disabling core 0 works better in FSX with an i7 920XM CPU, temps not so insanely high as on full blast.
  7. Why not go here with this specific notebook issue? http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/
  8. Just delete the "fx-wave" in the Effects folder, end of problem.
  9. Impressive, very impressive... But: With these awesome Ivy B. clocks/RAM speeds etc. - will FSX then be stutterfree, autogenpopup free, CTD free, OOM free, blurry free, I mean totally free and fluid like a new sim? I doubt it... It seems to me that you clever folks are more into the hardware tweaking/upgrading/clocking thing than actually flying FSX, right Dazz, Westman and TechguyMaxC?!
  10. Here´s how Nick set-up UTX: http://www.simforums...topic29041.html Scroll to: UTX SETTINGS FOR BEST PERFORMANCE vs BEST VISUALS
  11. Because the videos he make are edited, and NOT a true representation of how he see performance on his own screen, very, very far from it! Go with Intel and Nvidia as the pro´s here advise you.
  12. OP: You need to "downgrade" your expectations (and FSX settings) on this laptop, which actually is NOT made for heavy old-code gaming like FSX! http://www.notebookr...ew=dell xps 15z If you have the guts and time, have a look here, for eventual overclocking of your GT525M, because that´s the problem IMO. http://forum.noteboo...25m-card-7.htm Wan´t good performance in FSX from a laptop? Get a Clevo, Asus G75, or something else in that class.
