  1. Is it feasible to get KMCO working in P3Dv3?
  2. bump again, I would like to try this file out. The other soundset available is amazing, but is for a Q100/200/300.
  3. Maybe, just maybe, it will be ready for Cross the Pond. Patience with PMDG is a must, but it's well worth it.

  5. I don't think we'll see it for a while, understandably so. All great things take time.
  6. Excellent idea. If nothing comes up that day I'll try and take part. Name: Matthew Kraemer (i_am_canadian737) Aircraft: A2A C172 C-GQCU (VFR conditions permitting) I was wondering, perhaps we could all chip in a few donations for cancer research in Tom's honour?
  7. Tom, Like many, I am saddened by this news. Your dedication to this hobby is unmatched, and we as a community cannot thank you enough for all that you have done. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Godspeed, Captain.
  8. http://www.ctvnews.ca/business/new-cockpit-policy-for-air-canada-1.2298727 Airlines are already springing into action with policy changes. This is a horrific incident regardless of the cause. While I respect that suicide and mental illness is a problem only comprehensible by the person experiencing it, there is absolutely NO excuse to kill other innocent people along with oneself. We have seen events like these in the past. I think the only true effective solution is to target the root causes of mental illness. That would not explain the premature descent command on the MCP. I hate speculation and I truly do wish to believe that it was a freak accident and that there was no malicious intent, but sadly the evidence they've released so far points towards a deliberate downing. Regardless, the focus should be on the families of those involved. Nothing will give solace to their terrible loss.
  9. Sad day. I send my condolences, hopefully the investigation is swift and effective.
  10. Hello all, Like many, I am considering moving from FSX to P3D. I'm in the process of determining the total costs before proceeding. As I would like to take advantage of PMDG's discounts on the 737 and 777, my research has been accelerated by the impending "deadline." Canadians such as myself are, as some may know, suffering from the Canadian dollar, which is currently at a record low. Thus, I am curious; are the prices in the PMDG shop listed in USD? I cannot remember if they were when I originally ordered the 737 for FSX. Thanks, Matthew Kraemer
  11. Hi all, I've noticed an issue lately with FSX crashing when using alt-tab, or clicking anywhere in the dekstip in windowed mode. It seems FSX does not get along well with Windows 8/8.1's desktop. If I make it to the desktop and the Sim doesn't crash, trying to switch back into the Sim always results in a black screen, forcing me to end the flight. On occasion,I'll accidentally hit the windows key instead of the alt, which causes a crash or black screen. Is anyone else experiencing this issue with Windows 8.1, and/or is there a known fix?
  12. Both the 182 and 172 are excellent products and are nearly on par in this sense. It really comes down to whether you want to fly the fixed-pitch 172 or the faster and heavier variable-pitch 182. Also, I agree with the posts above- FTX Global and ASN are excellent choices. I highly recommend ASN over REX's weather engine as it is a much more effective weather engine. As well, it includes various effects such as visibility changes when flying through clouds- very immerse.
  13. FlyTampa Toronto-Pearson and the QW787
  14. I'm going on a comparison of the Airbus X and PMDG NGX. The Airbus sounds more modern and sophisticated, essentially it sounds European. I particularly enjoy the dings and beeps of, for example, the master caution alarm. However, I love the mechanical sounds of the 737 (fuel pumps and hydraulics...love that sound, especially on the real bird over the wings). In FSX, I think the PMDG soundset is overall higher in quality than the Airbus X, but they each have their own unique feelings.
  15. There is a nice guide here by NickN that explains in great detail how to pick the best components for an FSX PC and how to set it up. It's a long read, and sometimes there's more information than what you need overall, but it's an informative read. I found it useful when picking my new rig. The others are right- put your money in a good processor. However, don't completely skimp out on the GPU. Nvidia pairs best with Intel, specifically for rendering clouds in FSX. Good luck with your new rig, it will be worth the time spent researching.
