Do you have UIAutmationCore.dll in your FSX folder?

It's a known bug. The CTDs are probably happening after a specific number of menu bar clicks. The details regarding the fix may vary slightly depending on your OS.

I use windows 7 64 bit, and I fixed the CTD by copying a windows Vista version of UIAutomationCore.dll to my FSX folder. I don't know if it's necessary but I also renamed my original UIAutomationCore.dll file in my windows\system32 folder so it would not be used. Apparently no other apps were using it.

You DO NOT need to delete, or rename, any Windows System files! Drop the Vista version file into the root directory of FSX (where FSX.EXE is). Windows runs the local directory file first. If it cannot find it, it will then use the system file. Other programs will need the system file to run correctly.

Correct. There is no need for renaming or deleting system files.

Take a look into my guide in my sig, it contains the part on UIAutom... and the link to the file. (and you should read it as it contains more than only one useful info).

Read the guide.

He should have alresdy setup his machine IAW your guide.
