June 9, 200421 yr Killer news! Thanks for letting us know Fred. :) I told Chris in the screenshot forum how much I liked his first version and looked forward to this update.Thank You Chris from me too!Cheers,Jim
June 9, 200421 yr What's been changed from the first version, which I also really like? Are there any screenshots?Best,Joel
June 9, 200421 yr Hi Joel,I also lilke the first version a lot. And after reading the Readme I and looking at the screenshots included in the download I have decided to stick with the first version, for now anyway. Here's part of the Readme..."***Note from the author***Friends,I've taken an entirely different approach to NEU2. As it happens, I am still partial to the original, but some are not. Many have complained that the original is too colorful, and has been compared to "Disneyland". Others have complained that the lights were too large, bright, or "blobish".This version is entirely different with a darker, semi-monotone, more subtle approach. I hope this version of NEU brings you many hours of enjoyment. Some will still prefer the original: FS2Night.zip."Here's some screenshots that are in the screenshot forum...http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&mesg_id=141569http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...&mesg_id=141860Regards,Jim
June 9, 200421 yr I prefer v.2 personally. I think most of the lights near where I live are high or low pressure sodium, so they cast a white or yellowish glow respectively. v.2 nails it. However, as Chris states, it's fairly monotone. I find myself wishing for a middle of the ground. I'd love to have major urban areas with the blues and reds of v.1 and everyplace else v.2 - I'm sure it can be done by selectively installing files from each package but I have no idea which files are for where...anyone care to offer?Best,sgTHANKS AGAIN CHRIS! June 9, 200421 yr Awesome, I can't wait to check them out. The last version was great and I'm looking forward to this one too. Thanks Chris!
June 10, 200421 yr Hope you're not teaching someone crosswind landings with these winds we have here in Deer Valley today :)-John
June 10, 200421 yr LOL! :-lol It was a little bumpy teaching my private student emergency procedures this morning. The winds were still pretty calm out of the west at 8kts. We made it down before the 30kt gusts set in. :)
June 10, 200421 yr I personally prefer the first version. V2 has no 'spark' whatsoever. If there was any "Disneyland" in v1 then it only existed in the most congested downtown areas. I admit it could have been overdone. But suburbs, everything else was spot on. Just my $0.03.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
June 10, 200421 yr Ditto.....Spark?Just installed 'em and took a quick flight over London tonight.....very nice indeed :) I liked the first set, but these, being a little more subtle are very realistic looking, and what I really like now is how the major roads stand out more: you can clearly see all the 'A' roads in the city much more (shame we can't have animated traffic too...!! I suppose it wouldn't be really feasable though for some form of moving bands of light, and I guess it'd kill FPS, but it would look cool!!)Nice textures Chris...many thanks :)
