August 2, 201213 yr Hi. Just a heads up on progress to date of a new SBuilderX project I'm working on to fix some of the landclass and missing bypasses in the Albury - Wodonga locality. As a longtime resident of the area, I was very disappointed when I discovered what standard FSX showed for this locality. Appalling, really. It was no hard decision to spend a few $ to D/L the wonderful Orbx/FTX Au Blue package, whic makes a world of difference to the FSX experience. Yet I was still not satisfied with some of the over-use of urban land class in the FTX Blue pack - especially around Wodonga - or the clearly missing freeway extensions and Wodonga bypass roads. So I have decided to go ahead and fix these anomalies to my satisfaction. I have found it extremely difficult and time consuming to modify or replace many of the incorrectly placed ORBX roads & traffic triggers, so as a secondbest option I have decide to "plumb" my additions/alterations into the existing FTX Blue network in the main. The effect still seems worth it, as I hope you would agree from the attached winter season screenies.... No eta as yet, but hopefully within weeks - not months. We'll see! Cheers till next WIP update, aj
August 11, 201213 yr Here's a heads up on a small part of the WIP to date. Attached pics show the Hume Fwy - Olympic Hwy interchange area during FSX winter season, with the following variants - - FSX Standard (not recommended) - FSX + FTX Blue + Holgermesh (highly recommended) - FSX + FTX Blue + Holgermesh + MyUpdate (highly recommended+) That fly-over bridge took a bit of jiggling! Note: A few minor local roads are missing from my WIP version pic. Haven't put all the minors in yet, but they will appear in the final version. I have done a HEAP of work so far in the Wodonga/Albury suburban areas. Should have some nice 'burb pics in the next WIP update. Simply by adding actual road reserve widths to all the major and most minor roads makes a HUGE difference to the look of the two cities' scenery - opens them up nicely. Cheers till then - back to the grindstone.... but a FUN one at that... hehe.
August 12, 201213 yr Looks great but remember if you are using any FTX scenery files in your project and plan to include them in your release then you wont be able to share your work. -Paul-
August 12, 201213 yr Looks great but remember if you are using any FTX scenery files in your project and plan to include them in your release then you wont be able to share your work. Yep. That's why I am using standard FSX textures and objects for the update (no copyright hassles). As long as you have FTX Blue installed, with my standard FSX textures & objects added on top you should get the same results. Cheers, aj
