All About AFCADS

Recommended Posts

I have installed a few AFCADS for some default airports and have a few questions. Most install to the fsxroot/addon scenery folder. There is no requirement to delete the existing afcad, if there is one? Does an afcad in the fsxroot/addon scenery folder overide any other afcad? I assume most addon scenery airports come with their own afcad so no need to install one for them? What is the best way to track afcads so there aren't multiple afcads installed as I understand this can cause problems. Thanks!

When you install a new AFCAD/ADE file, you need to remove any previous versions. Having duplicate AFCAD's can cause a lot of issues.

While it is best not to have multiple Afcads, this will not always cause a problem.

Afcads in Addon Scenery will override any Afcads that have lower priority in the Scenery Library.

Any addon Afcad will override the default info and there is nothing to be done with the default files.

If you have an Afcad for an airport in Addon Scenery and add an addon that has it's own Afcad, it should be higher than Addon Scenery in the Scenery Library.

Keeping track of Afcads can become a full time job.

It is best to get in the habit of checking for existing Afcads anytime you add a new scenery addon.

regards,

Joe

Here's a tool to help accomplish that - FSX Airport Scanner at http://www.scruffyduck.org.uk/filemanager/navega.php?PHPSESSID=c652c09c95d1ca86f5176f699c1c6c04&dir=.%2FFSX%20Airport%20Scanner%2FCurrent%20Version
