library for X-plane

Featured Replies

Hi, I am just begging designing scenery for x-plane and I have extensive libraries created with gmax for FSX. How do I go about converting them so I can use them in overlay editor? Thanks. Neil

You need to find a way to convert from gmax to 3ds, then import into blender. Blender has a script which can export to xplane.

Anybody got a spare £3000 for 3ds? regards. Neil

Export from gmax as a wavefront.obj file. Open Blender and import the mesh. Make sure all textures are properly assigned. Export as necessary into WED.

If you have the scenery completed in FSX, you can do a simple conversion using some scenery tools.

Scroll down to "FS2XPlane"

Download the file and run your conversion. You may need to clean up some anomalies that MAY appear.

Thanks for the advice, but gmax can't export as .obj,at least mine doesn't. It seems the only way is to convert the existing scenery using as you say is to use fsx2xplane. Will 3dsmax import gmax files does anyone know? Regards. Neil
