June 16, 200421 yr Hi,Just downloaded and installed the sweet little AN-14 that has just been posted in the library.WOW, what a great freeware plane, but beware, it has no 2D panel, but the VC more than makes up for it.Any plane that you can land at 26kts is alright by me :-lol, apparently this can take off and land ACROSS a runway :-lolIf you like this sorta plane, go get it.When you have got it, if anyone can figure out how to start the engines without CTRL-E ,please tell me.Also, if someone could tell me the function of the little "wings" on either side of the nose, that would be great, I think they are some sort of AOA indicator or speed indicator, not sure though.CheersDan.
June 16, 200421 yr Selecting magnitoes worked for me to start it up (m = = =)The vc is definately good enough to not need a 2D panel. You just have to love a plane that lands slower than a Porter :)
June 17, 200421 yr an-14_ussr_army.zipit's a treat ;-)thanks to the builder of this little gem !cheers
June 17, 200421 yr Just spotted it myself, that'll definitely be coming down the phone line tonight!!
June 17, 200421 yr I believe the little "winglets" may not to be there to provide control or lift, but rather to measure angle of attack for the pilot/copilot.Whether they are viewed directly, or activate a sender unit to a gauge...?
June 17, 200421 yr Yep, totally top quality, apparently according to the readme it took 2 years to produce. It's full of nice little touches, now all I need is a paintkit to paint up this little beauty in some prettier liveries :-lolAlso, I am not sure if its my system, but the sound has a little pause where it loops over?.I notice the sound pack is an old FS98 sound pack, does anyone know of a "newer" one that would be suitable?.I also wonder if its possible to get some ref speeds from somewhere?, would be nice to fly it to the numbers :)Very well done and thanks to all those involved in its making, I love it!!!CheersDan.
June 17, 200421 yr "(...) the sound has a little pause where it loops over (...)"I experience the same thing. Only from inside the cockpit by the way: from outside view the sound is continuous. I'd like to see the issue fixed, for she's a wonderful little aircraft. Image leasurely sightseeing with full flaps down, at 50 kms (about 27 knots)! Jaap Verduijn.
June 18, 200421 yr >Selecting magnitoes worked for me to start it up (m = = =)>The vc is definately good enough to not need a 2D panel.>>You just have to love a plane that lands slower than a Porter>:)Nope, still no joy without using CTRL-E, I tried the M ===, can't figure out what I am doing wrong?Dan.
June 18, 200421 yr Okay, I'll display my ignorance; perhaps there are some other neophytes wondering about this too:Why are the colors on this plane's attitude indicator reversed (brown above, blue below), and why does it not move as the attitude changes? And where's the heading indicator or even a compass?I also would like to express my kudos to the creators, though. It's quite a nice job for freeware.
June 18, 200421 yr After pressing the "=" the third time hold it down, you should see the prop turning. You should also see the magnito switches flipping. This is the default keycommand for selecting magnitos and starting a piston engine.
June 19, 200421 yr If you look on the left hand side panel (below the left window) all will be revealed.Magnetos, Attitude Indicator switch, Turn indicator switch, windscreen wiper switch (yes, they work) together with other switches and controls.I find that the default Lockheed Vega sounds work well for this model.
