August 17, 201213 yr Am I the only person who can't select 1000ft increments on the Altitude control knob ( only 100's :-( ) I have a laptop with no mouse, so I need MUCH LARGer Clickspots ps: The 2d window with Mouse movement explanations, has a 'C90' heading.
August 24, 201213 yr I believe it is 100 feet increments only... the SP1 has provided bigger clickspots so that may help. Does the real unit have 1000 feet on the outer knob? Bert
August 24, 201213 yr Author Thanks very much Bert. On another selection difficulty :-) Checklists. I cant seem to consistently be able to choose different Checklist GROUPs. -once available I can move up and down easily; but getting the option to change groups is a challenge which sometimes defeats me. I use a laptop with a touchpad, so I'm not sure if I'm missing a mouse wheel scroll capability or not. Thanks again. ben
August 24, 201213 yr I'm not too happy with the mouse click zones myself.. I have suggested to Carenado a simple standard for each knob on the G1000, like - upper third = outer knob - middle third = push - lower third = inner knob The MFD FMS knob in particular needs this! In SP1 they applied this to some of the popup PFD knobs, but the MFD FMS knob was not changed.. Bert
August 25, 201213 yr Author Thanks again Bert. ps Is there a place in the manual that describes the use of the MFD knob for selection I saw the G1000 manual has breakdown of soft keys and what they do ?
August 25, 201213 yr From the Carenado manual: "NOTE: Use the outer knob to change the highlighted option, and the inner know [sic..] to change it (for group and checklist) In the checklists, the knob changed the item, ENT checks the item." If in doubt, read the real Garmin manual.. www8.garmin.com/manuals/G1000:CessnaNavIII_PilotsGuide.pdf "Selecting a Procedure Group Depending on the specific airframe, there are a certain number of groups of procedures with their respective checklists available to the pilot. To select a procedure group: 1. Press the CHKLIST softkey. 2. Turn the large FMS knob to select the ‘GROUP’ field. 3. Turn the small FMS knob to select the desired procedure and press the ENT key. Selecting a Checklist within the Procedure Group 1. Turn the large FMS knob to select the ‘Checklist’ field. 2. Turn the small FMS knob to select the desired checklist and press the ENT key." BTW, I've suggested Carenado implement the 1000/100 function of the ALT knob, just like the real unit. Bert
August 26, 201213 yr Author Bert. That's fantastic, thanks for you efforts. -the 1000 knob would be great for 15000 plus. Ben
