REX Runway Textures-Not appearing?

Featured Replies

Using Rex Essentials. I select a set of Runway textures, save with a name and then install. However, there is no change in FSX. I have REX pointing to the FSX root folder. I have looked in FSX folders/files but can't see any changes dated today (19th). I am probably skipping some simple step .....

I also have the P3D ($4.99) option and Prepare3d also shows no change in runway/taxiway testures.

Yes, I am alway signed on as admin. The Weather element works but changing textures from standard does not.If I knew the specific folders/files that are to be changed I could check the file dates?

Can't get into the REX forum that is why asking here.

The runway textures are written to your Texture fiolder inside FSX.

Dick you have to verify your REX essential order number here http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/15044-rex-essential-verification-thread/page__pid__141524__st__3390#entry141524 you should have the number from Flight Sim Store. Once you are verified you will access to the essentials support forums, the guys over there are pretty quick to sort out problems for folks as soon as they have been verified. You will obviously have to open an account on the REX forum if you haven`t all ready.

Thanks for your help. The answer was on the Options Page. Somehow the Options had been cleared and thus nothing was updated. I had focused on the configuration manager since it specified where to install but it was really what to install

late answer:

Rex use just "runway11.dds" replacement for concrete runways, and "runway12.dds" replacement for asphalt runways.

I found out that many other STOCK airports uses different .dds (ie runway19.dds, ruway20.dds and so on...)

So for example i can see rex runways @ KJFK, but not in LIRF... (and not in any other italian airports....:-( )

First backup your runways textures.

Using a dds viewer open the runways dds in the fsx texture folder and check wich are asphalt or concrete, and note them.

Then copy the same "runway12.dds" and "runway11.dds" respectively for asphalt and cocrete that comes with rex (in rex installation folder Images/Runways) into FSX texture folder, making multiple copies of the same file and reneme them accordingly to the original runwayXX.dds you see.

Very interesting. Probably many REX users not getting full value because of this. Thanks
