How do I setup a Bass Shaker?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, we are in the throws of moving house and once settled I will be redesigning my rig. What I hope to do is find myself a good dedicated seat I can use and install an Aura AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shaker. I understand this needs a separate amplifier to function. My question is, how do I run the amplifer from the PC. I don't have a separate sound card and run my sound system directly off the dedicated sound output from the Asus P8Z68-VMB. Do I need to get a separate sound card for me to run a separate amplifier? Having not done this before I'm a little stumped, so if anyone can offer some advice I'd be grateful, cheers fellas.

Wild guess here, but I do believe most onboard sound have a subwoofer output. You would connect your subwoofer box to that output. Just a wild guess, bud.

It's actually easier than you think: you split the signal on one channel if you are running simple stereo. Bass is usually the same on both channels (usually!). Or your run it from the LFE output if you have one on your card. Any amplifier for the bass like Bass Shaker or Buttkicker, have a built in crossover to limit the bass it's reading and then outputting to the shaker. This is why an amplifier is needed. See on the Buttkicker website, there is a description on which cables come with it, it will give you some ideas. I was checking it myself just yesterday. Tending towards buying the Buttkicker.

Ah, OK Word Not Allowed, so I will need an amp, with either of the two I choose? Thanks...

Yes, you need an amp, but I don't think you need any amp.

Buttoicker has its own amp.

Ah, OK, that's what I thought. I think the Buttkicker will be the best option... it's certainly got lots of good reviews
