FSX Issues ? Are your .NET Framework installs CORRUPTED ?

Featured Replies

Talking about a nice CLEAN re-install, one could also consider checking one's .NET installations BEFORE re-installing P3D (or FSX).

It has been my experience that a large number of the issues that users have had with running FSX and P3D, has been associated with corrupted .NET installations.

(Note: Sometimes, even uninstalling, and re-installing a given .NET version, does not correctly re-instally that version, if certain files are already missing on the computer)

An ideal tool would be something that checked to see what .net versions you had installed, and then checked that all that version's files were present and correct, and then run a simple .net program, to verify if that version of .net was operating correctly,

A few days ago, I discoved such a program.

I ran it on a number of XP, Vista and Windows 7 computers, that were supposingly all UP TO DATE with Windows update, and it found numerous issues on several of the machines, that were correctable, with the aid of the program's error log.

I consider this a MUST HAVE program to have in one's toolbox..

Would be interesting to hear from anyonw who has run this test, and can report of they "DID" or "DID NOT" find any .net Framework errors on their PC. ( and if so, in what Version(s) )

I ran the tool and had no errors. Paul J reported this tool some time ago up in the CTD forum. It works! I think the most important versions are the one's that were released when FSX/Acceleration was released (version 1, 1.1, and 1.1 sp1). These versions are normally installed with the software so everyone should have it installed and it should be kept up-to-date through Windows Update.

Best regards,

Jim

I know Jim "Firehawk" has, and I have been using them for a long time.. They're standard MS tools provided for power users and devs, I suppose.

Here is a very good site, too, if you want to delve more deeply into fixing pc issues:-
