CH Flight Sim Yoke vs CH Eclipse Yoke

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to finally take the plunge on buying a yoke for use in FSX. I don't have a ton of money to spend so I definitely won't be buying PFC, VRInsight, etc. I have ruled out the Saitek based on user comments (mainly the pitch detent sounds really, really annoying) so that leaves the CH Flight Sim yoke (their cheaper one) or the CH Eclipse yoke.

My main question is, besides the extra switches and the goofy rudder paddles on the Eclipse, are there any other differences? i.e. is the mechanism the same between the two? Certain stores like PCaviator.com mention the smooth/detent-free movement on both product pages but I'd like to be certain before buying. I want to get pedals as well so I see no need for the Eclipse if the feel of the yoke itself is otherwise the same.

Also, do there happen to be any other sub-$200 yokes on the market besides the Saitek or CH?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Hello Molleh,

If 'smooth/detent-free' means the device is not self-centering, then for my CH Flight Yoke USB the answer is no, it's not detent-free. When you for example rotate the yoke to the left and let go, it self-centers mechanically. Same same for elevator motion.
