Cant install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010

Featured Replies

Hi

I need to install Microsoft visual C++ 2010 but every time I try the installer fails and says it couldnt complete the installation because of a Generic Trust Failure.

Ive done lots of "fixes" ive found on the internet but nothing has fixed it. I can install C++ 2008 but not 2010.

Same thing happens when I try to install .Net Framework

any ideas?

thanks

Seems creating a new user account and installing it in there did the trick

Hi Lee,

I think with a trust issue you may be forced into a complete Windows reinstall. Otherwise it could get very messy knowing what is and what is not working correctly in the future.

For future problems like this, this problem is caused because Microsoft cannot verify you have genuine Windows software installed. If you look in "Installed Updates", look for any update that failed. If you find any, you'll have to manually get each failed update installed by following the link of the failed update and manually downloading the file and updating. Once I did this, Microsoft had a message thanking me for using genuine Windows software. You can then install your MSV's and dot.net software.

Best regards,

Jim

Sorry I missed your post. To find installed updates, goto the Windows Control Panel and click on Programs>Installed Updates or Uninstall a program.

Best regards,

Jim

Thanks Jim.

A couple of days ago I followed what you said and just played around in that area of windows and then all of a sudden on the next reboot everything was working again.

Wish I knew exactly what I did but I'm not complaining. Haha

Of course I get it fixed and then a couple of days later my new disk arrives from Microsoft for a repair install.

Thanks again Jim

Lee

Sent using Tapatalk
