August 26, 201213 yr Hello, After 3 1/2 years of running very well, I believe I'm having issues with my desktop (I built it) connecting to my monitor. I'm not sure what happened but my monitor will not recognize the desktop. I can hear windows booting up in the background but I'll get a no connection message on the monitor. At first I thought it something was wrong with the monitor but I hooked up my laptop to it and it displayed just fine. It's an older build and not sure if you need the info but this is my graphics card: ATI Radeon - HD4850-512mb Even though I built my computer, I'm not the the most tech savvy. Thanks for any information. It's killing me not to be able to fly, since I've been away from home for over a month. CK Chris B. Trane
August 26, 201213 yr Have you made sure that all necessary power connecters are plugged into the card? Also, re-seat your graphics card in your motherboard. If that still doesn't fix it, I would reset your BIOS.
August 26, 201213 yr Author I did some additional reading and came across the things you mentioned. I think the power connectors are good to go but I'll check them when I open up the case. Silly questions. If I do need to reset the BIOS, what is the best way to do that? Will I have to do any additional settings after the BIOS is reset. It's been so long since I built this, I really can't remember if I did anything to the BIOS. I don't think I did any customizing (no overclocking) Thanks for the quick reply! Chris B. Trane
August 26, 201213 yr Author I reset the card and it's now working. This happened a couple of weeks ago. I waited a week to fire up the computer and had no problems. I didn't reset the card but just wanted to see if it was going to work. If it comes back I'll look at resetting the BIOS. Thanks again Chris B. Trane
August 26, 201213 yr I reset the card and it's now working. Glad you are up and running again!
