Best freeware VC's?

Featured Replies

Great to hear you're a vc convert. VC's are just getting better & better! New SDK's allow rain effects on the VC and designers now have enough expreience to really make the most of them. Aside of the examples already quoted, a quick browse in my menu shows lco26's Dornier Alpha jet, the ecureil as350, Augusta A-109 with full cabin, Groundcrews Bf110, Daisukes FA-18 E,F,G, the new Cessna 206 stationair, FS Berlins' Lockheed Electra L10, the Gloster Meteor T7, All of Paul Barry's/David Hanveys Hawker Fury/Typhoons, Lancair legacy 2000, the Stampes & looking forward to miltons upcoming howard 500.Now you're into VC's, I can recommend a payware addon called Active Camera here http://www.anticyclone.be/This utility allows you to pan the cockpit using the mouse & walk around the interior cabin and the outside of the aircraft. It also has some great effects, such as the head latency effect which simulates your being bounced arouns by turbulence, high G etc.happy landingsLonelyplanetXO

> Hi Barry,> You helped me a couple days ago on the mixture control for>the AN-14 Hi Rick -- No probs. Did you see that XOMER has uploaded an updated manual for the Antonov AN-14 today. A quick look at it shows that it is now accurate . I am still having trouble getting the ILS system gauges to work though. If I could fix this , then this litte "Bee" would be my favourite freeware a/c -- I have installed sounds for it from Bill Lyons Cessna FS2002 Bobcat . I dont know how realistic that is -- but I like it!!! :)Barry

I'll definately add a few here. Most helecopters at hovercontrol.com that are made for FS9 have VCs.Also my favorite freeware jumbo, posky 757, well done VC on that.Unfortunately theres not that many choices in terms of commercial aviation with a VC unless you want to put out 20-30 bucks. I recommend buying a few payware planes with VCs like my just purchased and awesome citation X from eaglesoft, and the pmdg 737 series. Well worth the money. Especially if you're somebody like me and just can't fly a plane looking through a postcard! Maybe in a few years more people will understand and VCs will become more popular

Hi Barry, I hope your around to read this because I JUST happened to notice you had wrote me back on the AN-14! I,m going to grab that manual and give it a shot, thanks for the info! By the way, you mentioned changing the sound file for the BEE. Well I did to and found useing the sound file from the (NOW, DON,T LAUGH) Ford tri-motor actually sounds pretty good! Go figure! Anyway, get a chance sometime and try it! Take care, RickB P.S. How bout' that Howard 500,eh? "Someday I will fly in a real B-17"!!!

One of my favorite VC's is the F-16 Fighting Falcon Viper by Kirk Olsson. Using the simplified cockpit option, it's very frame rate friendly........ which means "fluid" smoothness to quickly get me up to 25000' or more, over the mountain areas of the west U.S.It's excellent for panaramic viewing which adds to the sense of being there. This combined with add-on mesh scenery, it's excllent exterior visuals & great handleing, adds to the sim experience!L.Adamson

I knew I forgot a few planes. Yep the F16 is definately awesome. Theres a great hornet here at the library but its a framerate hitter

If you don't , the ILS wont work. Took me ages to figure that -- apart from that, this is one of the best freeware a/c for VC flying and STOL out there. The FPS are really very good -- I am wondering how it was achieved.Barry

Hi Barry, Great tip on the avionics switch key assignment! That should save me a lot of experimentation(stumbling in the dark!)LOL Have you had a chance to grab the Utva I suggested earlier in this thread? Thats also a really great little aircraft, although its not a STOL, but really a blast to fly!I think its just about payware quality and awsome VC! Check out the headmovement of the co-pilot! He reminds me of a nosy neighbor!(Known a few of those!) The Utvas a Polish aircraft, kind of like a little Piper. Let me know! RickB "Someday I will fly in a real B-17"!!!

Would like to have some different sounds than the C172 though - will have to look around.Have got a real nice collection of VCs now -- it really is the only way to fly , especially for GABarry

Hi Barry, Glad to hear you like the Utva! Great little aircraft! Heh, I,ve got an idea for Cessna replacement sound; FORD TRI-MOTOR!!!LOL:-jumpy Take care RickB "Someday I will fly in a real B-17"!!!

I've always liked John Woodward's Lake Renegade VC. It's not the most detailed, but I always feel nice and snug while flying in it, and it has great visibility. Great VC for landing in lakes with.

The Robin DR400 that was just uploaded to the library is one of the great freeware classics. It also has one of the best looking VCs out there. - Oyvind

All great choices here. Since I am a VC only flyer my fav freeware is the bellanca Scout by LIC and for payware, if you have the horsepower, the Pilatus Porter by FSD, a truly amazing VC!Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://www.calvirair.com/mcpics/PBTMCa.jpgCalVirAir International VACougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviation[link:www.cgrmtnhelos.com]Cougar Mountain Helicopters
