Winds aren't transitioning between CRUISE and FINALS

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I hope you can help with the follow problems.

I was flying IFR in Australia from Canberra to Coffs Harbor -- ActiveSky succesfully injected winds at FL330 at 273/100, so a windy day in Australia. As I descended, though ActiveSky and ATIS at Coffs Harbor reported the winds at the destination airport at 350/17. Now here's the problem - throughout my entire approach (including short finals) the winds remained pegged at > 100 kts!!

So my question is, why didn't the winds transition slowly throughout my descent from FL330 all the way down to sea-level. Note, that the winds aloft for 6K, 9K and 12K were forecast quite low (e.g. 20 kts)... though as I descended I didn't experience of these changes, and the winds remained very fast.

Can you please advise what I may have missed? (I'm using AS Evolution SP3)

Thank you,

Sam Kharey

I run dwc only and the wind transitions correctly. I found if you do run dwc do not run fsuipc wind smoothing. This will cause what you are seeing unless you open up fsuipc and then close it you will see the correct wind.

I do have DWC on, and FSUIPC wind smoothing was always off. Hmmm, any other suggestions?
