FSX BE58 cursor control?

Featured Replies

I have been flying the FSX BE58 with the garmin 1000 glass cockpit & can't seem to figure out how to move the cursor bar when I select "Procedure". It automatically comes up to the "Approach". I can select "enter" but can't find the right button to move the cursor up or down to make any other selection in that box. Any help out there? I would appreciate it.

There's a plus and minus clickspot where my pink markers are.

Thanks for the reply...I guess I tried those buttons but was trying to move the cursor to the arrivals list but it probably wasn't prohrammed for it but I was able to move the cursor to select the approach. Thanks much.

One more thing...since the FSX baron has decent graphics would a sound panel be worthwhile or save the $ for the Carenado BE58?

Good point on the sound. I don't have the Carenado Baron, so I can't say much about the 'to get' qualities. From the reports, it's very nice on the optics, this being a Carenado character trait so to speak. I think it also features nice sounds.

An older freeware sound set is here. http://www.fun2fly.dk/sounds.htm This should work in FSX too, but I haven't tried it. But folks were happy back then. http://forum.avsim.n...is-baron-sound/

You can also find some more freeware on the Avsim library. For tuning the default Baron. Take this for example, a damage mod. http://library.avsim...D=fsx&Go=Search

You are in a niche with a Baron + G1000 setup. The Carenado doesn't feature the glass instruments, but classic ones. The only plane being close to the Baron and offering a nice G1000 variant would be the Milviz C310.

That's a very decent plane, great sounds, current optics, different panel options and a rw manual (POH). The G1000 in there will be the one you already know, a tweaked FSX G1000. Note. She can be a handful to fly at times. ^_^

On the Barons itself, the Carenado offers the B58 variant and Milviz does the older B55 which is a great thing. So how much would a dedicated sound pack for the default Baron cost you in regard to a complete addon plane?

If you like the default plane, it's worth sticking to it of course.

Edited. I saw Arezone offers a B58 sound set for ~12 Euros. 33 Dollars for the Carenado and some 30 Dollars for the Milviz planes so there's the difference.

Here's a review of the Carenado where they use the extra sound set. That's an somehow expensive combo then. http://www.simflight...one-sound-pack/

Note. If you pick a store with a refund policy, you can test the stuff and return it if it doesn't float your boat.

wow...thanks for all the info....I definitelywill look into all of the suggested possibilities. I don't mind spending some cash as long as it is a good product. One more question...I promise... Is it difficult to install sound files into FSX? I'm looking for the easiest product as my skills as a PC user are rather limited.

cheers!

Don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad if some stuff helps.

Installing some sounds is easy. On the Baron, go to SimObjects\Airplanes\beech_baron_58 and find a sound folder. Backup that one as these are the default sounds. Means engines, wind and some events.

So if you have another sound pack, you just replace that one folder if it's a complete set or work on the included files when you e.g. just change how the prop rpm sound or something.

As you see, it's more of a copy and paste job. FSX will always use the sounds being placed in the 'sound' folder, so if you rename it to 'soundBACKUP' or something, it won't be active.

The main sound folder in FSX is right in the root folder, named sound too. But one doesn't have to change much there. Well, if you do, backup the folder first. It mainly features files being used by addons or more than one plane. Sort of a fallback at times.

I think the thread will be moved soon, into the FSX section. So don't be surprised when that happens.
