September 21, 201213 yr Hey chaps. Been looking at the obutto ozone cockpit. I'd love to have somewhere to mount all my controllers, thrustmaster warthog, logitech g25 steering wheel and saitek yoke. I'm pretty fastidious and would like a cockpit which causes the mimimum disruption when changing between controllers, tidy cable management and would also allow me to mount triple monitors with a 4th touchscreen below the centre one. Does anyone own this cockpit or could you advise a better solution? Thanks S
September 24, 201213 yr Hi Samson, Well I'm not a chap, but I think I can help I do have an Obutto Ozone cockpit. I just got it about 3 months ago actually. I love it, but there are some things to watch out for. First, definitely get the tabletop add on, triple monitor mount and flight stick add on. The tabletop is a must if you want to use your cockpit as a desk as well, for placing speakers, drinks, whatever. Actually the Obutto makes a very comfy workstation, once you get your controllers out of the way. I love being able to switch between controllers very quickly. The flight stick mount is a small L shaped tubular piece that mounts at the base of the seat, at the front. It's unobtrusive for me but for taller people who slide the seat back farther, it might be kind of annoying for non-flight sim use. Again personally, for me it works great. I have my joystick mounted with velcro to the stick mount, and all I have to do is slide the joystick extension into the mount on the seat and voila! It takes about 10 seconds to do, really nice and it's totally sturdy letting you thrash around on the stick if you need to. Then you can also use the throttle mount on the left side for a HOTAS setup. When not in use you can just loosen that and swing it out of the way behind which is really nice. Then for yokes or steering wheels you can mount to the tabletop/wheel mount quite easily, but it still takes a few moments to screw/unscrew the clamps for whatever device you want to use. You can of course hard mount your devices, but then you're stuck with it. One thing I want to do eventually is get a CH throttle quadrant. I plan on mounting that to shifter mount which will be in a very similar position to most real aircraft. However in your case, with a HOTAS setup, you won't be able to have both at the same time because one side or the other is needed for the mouse/keyboard tray, unless of course you don't plan on using it (I can't see how you would get on without it though since a yoke/wheel will leave no room for a keyboard) Still, it does have some downsides. Cable management is basically non existent, you will have to come up with your own methods for that. Personally I string cabling along through some of the weld points, that keeps them out of the way and fairly organized.. but if you're a "neat freak" it may not please you. I guess the new Obutto cockpit (the R3volution) will have better cable management. Also another minor thing that might bug some people, is the steering wheel mount does have a tiny bit of flex to it.. you won't notice it while simming but it is visible if you're looking for it. Anyway, hope that helps, lemme know if you have any other questions. I can probably get some pics up too. edit: Oops, I forgot one VERY IMPORTANT thing!!! Do you also have rudder pedals? The car pedals that come with the G27 will fit fine, but a WARNING about using rudder pedals (at least the Saitek combat pedals I have) - they BARELY fit in the "footwell" of the Obutto. If you look at pics of it online (look up the SimHQ review, it has great pics) you will see that there are two angled tubes on each side below the monitor mount that make kind of a triangle or A-shape. The rudder pedals will NOT fit with full travel if you use the pedal mounting plate that comes with the Obutto. They will bump into the tubular frame at around 70% of travel either direction. To get around this I had to remove the pedal plate and put the rudder pedals directly on the floor. That gives them *just* enough room for full travel without bumping anything, but it was tricky to fit them just right. I actually used a rectangular piece of vinyl flooring zip tied to the base of the cockpit, then used velcro between the vinyl and the pedals to hold them in place. It works perfectly, but bare in mind it may take some work or clever thinking. Swapping quickly between car pedals and rudder pedals would be a pain most likely. However other rudder pedals like the CH might have smaller dimensions and/or less pedal travel which might fit much better, but I don't have CH pedals to test.
September 25, 201213 yr I have the orignal Obutto. I got Saitek Cessna rudder pedals they fit better than the combat ones and I prefer them. If you place a piece of wood under the back end of the Obutto it also gives some more vertical clearance. My photos of this are on simhq with my old Simped pedals (Taipan)
September 25, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the replies chap and chapess i'll check out those threads and pics.

I have the logitech g25 wheel and g940 so from what i've read on simhq it should fit both sets.

Given your time again would you shell out for the r3volution over the ozone
