Barrow, Alaska

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I'm interested in making some GA airports in Alaska, but I would like to make them pretty detailed ( surrounding town included ) I have chosen PABR ( Barrow ) as a starter, anyone can assist here? I have no physical access to those areas and so no way of doing picture documentation. Pictures on the net are not too good ( or I'm poor at finding them ;) )

Thanks!

You've certainly started with a difficult one.

I've only found a few on google search and that didn't really help me when I did a fictional scenery for Barrow ( part of Sid & Pete's scenery ).

I wish you well.

Pete.

Hi Pete,

Well that's pretty bad, have you come across any other GA airports in Alaska that are possible to make realistically?

Thanks!

Hi,

I start by searching on Google Earth for hi-res imagery, Google search for any pics of the airstrip and sites like Airliners.net for any other pics.

Other than that it's my vivid imagination.

Are you able to make your own scenery objects? If so, I can send you a bunch of pics of the two terminal buildings at PABR (which is not a ga airport, BTW) and you can at least model those.

It's been my experience that finding suitable pics of even large airports is difficult. With the smaller ones it's nearly impossible unless you take them yourself or know someone in the area who can. Sometime you luck out with a web search, usually you don't. It's not an Alaska problem, it's the same everywhere.
