MyTrafficX and VoxATC... any advice on using together?

Featured Replies

In attempt to try and inject some AI into my flights between start/end airport locations, I'm going to dig out and install my copy of MyTrafficX.

Now I know that MyTrafficX can be used with VoxATC but what I am looking for is any advice/tips on how to properly set the two up to work successfully together right after installing MyTrafficX. VoxATC v5.63 is already installed, and the last version I had of MyTrafficX was v5.2, but I can upgrade that to a current version if necessary.

Does anyone have any advice or guidance to offer?

Thanks

I would have thought that VOXATC would still use FSX (I'm assuming you're using this version) traffic generator. The instructions say within FSX set traffic sliders to zero(0), but within VoxATC setup the amount of traffic you want.

I have VoxATC 6.0 and I'm using Traffic X as my traffic engine. FSX sliders are set to zero(0) and within VoxATC I have traffic set to 60%. I get a lot of traffic from start to finish, diverting is the only thing that does not generator traffic. But my diversions are emergencies and I just write it off as to they cleared the airport for me to land :-)

Thanks for your comments Ray.

I posted another thread topic below this one where I commented that I'm not seing any traffic between my start and end airport destinations when I follow a flight plan. I have aircraft doing circuits at both locations, but nothing in between and en-route. My VoxATC traffic slider is at the default setting of 50% and FSX traffic sliders are set to 0% (as per the VoxATC manual recommendations). So unless things have changed in VoxATC v6.x, I'm not enjoying a sky full of aircraft, hence why I'm looking into reinstalling MyTrafficX.

This is my one complaint with VOX. I use My Traffic X also. I run my traffic in Vox at 40% and see plenty of traffic on the ground. I see virtually no traffic enroute, although I hear chatter, and I see very little traffic on approach. It's a great program otherwise though.

That's weird because I hear and see traffic while enroute.

Do you get traffic call outs?

What altitude are you flying?

I noticed if I'm under 10k I get a lot of traffic call outs and I can see traffic...now keep in mind some of the traffic is 5 to 6 miles out...so you rarely would ever see them during the day. Now, if you do a night flight I can see them much easier.

Between 10K - 18K I seem to get less traffic. Haven't done a lot of Class A flights yet. Also, if you pause FSX for amount 30 minutes and then un-pause I get a ton of traffic, and very close too.

Does any of your planes have traffic TCAS on board?

If I cannot see them physical I can see them on my TCAS.

Are you flying IFR or VFR?

I noticed also if I'm flying VFR and I do not request traffic advisories...I get no traffic enroute, but as soon as I request traffic advisories..I get lots of traffic.

Ray,

I finally got an opportunity to do a flight with VOX today to check out the traffic. I was flying a 737-600 from Landvetter to Leipzig at FL360. As I said, while on the ground there is plenty of traffic even at 30%. When I took off there was one aircraft ahead of me but once I was airborne, there was no traffic visible by sight or on the TCAS. There was radio communication between ATC and other traffic but I never actually saw any. I don't use traffic callouts because it causes strange vectoring for traffic avoidance. This is my only gripe about VOX.
