Per instructions from this forum I have listed a report below involving four CTD. In general these were happening when I was learning the PMDG NGX tutorial 2. This occurs after periods of time (< than one hour). The problem I don't think is PMDG rather it's me to the extent that it takes me awhile to work through it so the machine is kinda sitting there as I read and enter data. Got through tutorial one with no issues. In all cases I had not gotten into the air but not because of the program. Attached is some eventviewer info on the 09/15/2012 crash. I can get more if you wish> fsx,cfg is listed also. My specs are as follows:

 

Motherboard Intel DZ68BC no tweaking

i5-2500K no tweaking

8 gigs ram

windows 7 64bit

no addons to FSX and FSX is on its on drive

Graphics EVGA 560TI with no tweaking.

MENU CRASHES AND FIX AKA UIAUTOMATIONCORE.DLL-FIX: Fault Module Name : uiautomationcore.dll

 

There is a know bug in originally installed FSX, when you click into menus a lot, or click around the cockpit, or right click, that FSX is going to freeze and/or crash.

The problem is known to get fixed by saving a Vista UIAutomationcore.dll file into FSX folder. Just by placing it there, FSX seems to use that file and not crash FSX any more by those clicks.

My three-cents: I have yet to get the uiautomationcore.dll to crash my system. I have been doing everything possible as described by Rendi above. No CTD. What am I doing wrong? :lol: The uiautomationcore.dll was the faulting module in only one crash. Another one was the ntdll.dll. Each one shows the Exception Code 0000005 (Memory_Access_Violation). This exception almost shows up in every FSX CTD and it happens when FSX is looking for a texture, a gauge, an effect to load or render and cannot find it. The OP says he was using the PMDG NGX and learning one of the tutorials. The uiautomationcore.dll is part of the Microsoft.net framework and used by developers for communications between a set of codes in FSX and user input - http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms747327.aspx. FSX was developed mainly for VISTA with backward compatibility with XP. Vista did not automatically install dotnet on systems. It is now part of the installation process for Windows 7. All versions of dotnet are installed with Windows 7. FSX also installs the proper version if it is not found on the system as dotnet is the program used by developers to run their program in the most efficient manner possible. It also has the function of handling memory for FSX/Acceleration. Why the Vista version of the uiautomationcore.dll works for some when it is placed in the main FSX directory and not for others is puzzling to say the least but, if it works, that's great! I just think there's something else wrong with the individuals system or installation of FSX and addons. The ntdll.dll is related to memory and there could be an issue with the memory not being configured properly in the system BIOS or the Windows virtual memory (page file) is not properly configured. I have found for FSX (since it's an old, old program) that "system managed size" in the virtual memory settings is the best. I would also check your system BIOS and make sure your memory frequency, timings, and voltages are set properly.

 

Another possible reason is with the PMDG NGX. PMDG has a recommend startup for their aircraft. I think they like people starting up a default aircraft first, then load the PMDG aircraft. I see in your fsx.cfg you are starting up with the following situation: SITUATION=G:\MyDocs redirect from C\Flight Simulator X Files\CID Start Ultralight. I assume this is the default Trike? My default situation is SITUATION=FLIGHTS\OTHER\FLTSIM. Perhaps PMDG is not liking the way you start up?

 

Let's hope your ctd can be handled simply by dropping that uiautomationcore.dll into your main fsx folder. But, if it does not work, then you need to start checking out my suggestions.
