FS2004 custom panel freeze with new 660 Ti

Featured Replies

I just upgraded my video card from a 560 Ti to a 660 Ti and every game or program seems to be working fine except when I use any custom panels in FS2004. When switching views from the front panel window to any side panel windows and back, FS2004 freezes for about 10 seconds and then continues normally. Any outside views (tower, etc...) work just fine. It's just the views for all (and I mean all) of the custom panels that I have installed whether freeware or payware. All default panels work fine with no freezes.

I didn't have this issue with the 560 Ti and I've tried different drivers for the new 660 Ti with no solution. I've even deleted the fs9.cfg file and let FS2004 built a new one to no avail.

FSX works fine.

Anyone else ever have this problem with the view windows with custom panels? Or anyone running FS2004 with a 660 Ti?

Many thanks for any and all replies.

Just to add more information to my issue. The problem is only occuring when FS2004 is in Full Screen mode. When I'm flying in Windowed mode, the issue does not happen.

Whew! Got FS2004 working properly.

I'll post what I did to fix it in case anyone else has this same issue.

With my new MSI PE OC 660 Ti card, I installed the latest driver from nVidia's website. The issue occurred. After trying a few more versions from nVidia, I finally installed the 304.87 drivers that came on the MSI CD with the card. And now FS2004 runs fine.

Another example of what I have mostly found. The best/most reliable Drivers, are sometimes the Drivers that came on the CD supplied with the Card.... ....!

"Newer", is not always better!.... :Hypnotized:....!

Glad all is sorted!

Paul.... :Bug: ....!
