  1. You're correct. I fooled around with the fan settings and now I got the idle down to under 30c. The fans don't kick in until the temperature reaches 61c.
  2. Idle temperature of 61 C for my eVGA FTX ACX 2.0 GTX 970 card. I thought that was very high, but with the fans off, that is about normal for this factory overclocked card. Never seen the card get higher than 75 C when trying out the Heaven and Valley benchmark programs. I don't use a fan profile yet and don't know if I'll set one up.
  3. Latst week I replaced my 660 Ti with the eVGA FTW ACX 2.0 GTX 970 which supposedly fixes the coil whine once and for all. No coil whine from this card either and the fan doesn't turn on until the card reach a temperature around 65C. Even then the fan is super quiet.
  4. Yep, me too! Great set of speakers.
  5. Start the MyTraffic X Configurator and select the Autumn 2012 schedule under the Select Schedules drop down list. The Autumn 2012 schedule is basically 5.4b.
  6. XP only. I tried many times to get it to work on Windows 7 to no avail.
  7. If you have your airport scenery complexity set high, it will take about 10-15 minutes for the fuel trucks and baggage trucks have to do their routine before a MTX AI plane can push back. Burkhard has mentioned this in the past when people noticed that planes won't move. When I load FSX, I usually wait for about 15 minutes before I start my scheduled flight to see the MTX planes push back and depart.
  8. One positive review of the product on the Simmarket page. Looks pretty good to me, but I'm already using GE Pro and UT so I wonder how much of a difference it'll be.
  9. I have both as well, but after using AE for a long time, I switched to using Alan Constable traffic sounds and I think they are excellent and I use them now. The only issue I have with Alan's sounds is that I had to manually change the sound configs for some of the newer planes that come with the latest version of MT. That took me about 90 minutes to do. http://secure.simmarket.com/a-constable-traffic-sounds-fsx-extreme-edition-2009.phtml
  10. I've been using DBS Airport GPS for a few years now and have had no issues with it. I like it very much.
  11. You get used to the stretched gauges very quickly.
  12. After much debate (and headaches!) and after staring at a 27" beside a 24" at the store, I've decided to get a 25" instead. The picture on the 27" at 1920x1080 just didn't look as clear as on the 24". For $300 more, I could have gotten a 2560x1440 27", but my 660 Ti probably couldn't keep up with some games at the highest graphic settings. The Asus 25" looks great with no light bleeding at all. A good improvement from my 23". The 25" are getting to be pretty rare. Many thanks for the replies.
  13. Hello, I currently have a 23" Samsung 1920x1080 LED and was thinking of upgrading to a 27" 1920x1080 monitor. I find that for some games, the small print is getting harder to read as I age. But since I sit around 2-2.5 feet away from the monitor (it's a small desk), I'm thinking that a 27" might be too big. And also about the same number of pixels on a larger screen might be poorer picture quality than my 23". I'm also considering one of those fairly rare Asus 25" LED's for the same price as a Samsung 27" monitor. I'm perplexed whether I should just get the smaller 25" due to sitting so close to the monitor or will I regret not getting the 27" in the long run? I know there's 1440 27" monitors, but that's quite a bit out of my price range and performance wise with my 660 Ti. I've read other threads about monitor size, but has anyone bought a 27" LED and later regretted it because it was too big for the short distance they sit from the screen? Many thanks for any and all replies.
  14. I uninstalled ASE with no issues running AS2012 afterwards. But you could always make a copy of the ASE folder, uninstall it and see if AS2012 runs fine. Delete the backup if AS2012 is okay.
  15. Update: I had to reinstall the 320.49 drivers after removing the 326.19 drivers when I had a lot of crashing in Train Simulator 2013. No problems in FSX and other games though with 326.19.
  16. I also installed the driver with my 660Ti Windows 7 PC with no issues so far.
  17. If I run FS2004 on just one processor with my i7-920, I get slight stutters. When I change the affinity for fs9.exe to all processors, then the stutters go away.
  18. I don't anyone posted the first picture of the C-Series test plane. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c7/CS100-FTV1.jpg
  19. There should a log file in the AS65 home folder or maybe in a log folder. The log would show why the program is closing.
  20. I've been using downsampling for other games like Theatre of War and Achtung Panzer: Operation Star. It works very well and does really help with the graphics quality especially if the anti-aliasing doesn't work with the video card (660 Ti for me) or within the game like it doesn't for these two games.
  21. I used BEV for a long time and I liked it very much. I then installed GE Pro and switched between both for a while. I finally decided on sticking with GE Pro due to the way it handles urban areas. GE Pro handles the autogen in the urban areas better than BEV. The autogen is lined up very nicely alongside the roads using GE Pro and it also seems to show more autogen buildings in the urban areas making the density of buildings higher than BEV. For rural areas, I would say that both handle that very well and are about even. But it was definitely the urban area for GE Pro that was the tiebreaker. I think that money spent on GE Pro is worth it.
  22. I have an i7-920@4 GHz and replaced my GTX285 with a 660Ti 2GB. I'm very happy with it. It handles the new games like Total War Shogun 2 very well
  23. This is what Burkhard once wrote about the traffic level for MyTraffic: "Parts of the MyTraffic schedules are based on real world data, and for those airports which are not filled by these additional schedules are calculated on some algorithms. All these for airliners and cargo traffic are above 50%, so at 30% you will only see airliners based on real world data." http://forum.simflight.com/topic/71618-where-should-the-ai-traffic-sliders-be-for-a-realistic-ai-world/ Myself, I run MyTraffic at 35%.
  24. I'm going to try this tonight with FS2040 and FSHotSFX which needs the TCASid to be Type+ in order for the AI sounds to work properly. This will allow RC4 and FSHotSFX to work together nicely. A great find, Jet. Thanks!
  25. I too have been using Shade. Once I found the right configuration for it, I've stuck with it.
