  1. I managed to complete a one hour flight last flight using the POSKY 737-600. I lowered the lod_radius down to 4.5 as both 5.5 and before that 6.5 produced OOM crashes on the exact same flight. After I landed and taxied to the gate, I noticed that FSX was using 3.4 GB of RAM and almost 6 GB of virtual memory. I'm not using the FSUIPC's autosave.
  2. I too have been suffering OOM's with my 12GB of RAM. Just now, I had one. I have my displays cranked full up while my traffic for airlines is at 35% (MTX) and my road traffic is at 25%. My LOD_Radius was set to 6.5 and I just lowered it to 6.0 and still suffered the OOM.
  3. I will also chime in my vote for MTX. Burkard is already working on the next update of version 5.4 which should be out very shortly. His updates of the major versions are free for MTX owners and Burkard provides excellent support for his product.
  4. Actually I wasn't complaining about the blackout. I rather like it to be pitch black when I fly at 2:00AM on a moonless night.
  5. I tried this last week with GE Pro and really like the results. Darkens down the daytime nicely in FS9. Not quite like "Shade for FSX", but I definitely like what this does for FS9.Thanks for that tip, Jim.
  6. I experienced this a couple nights ago when I flew from CYEG (Edmonton) to CYVR (Vancouver). A complete blackout as I couldn't see the snow on the mountains nor even the wing itself out the side window. Usually I can see both in FS9 nighttime.
  7. I've been using 12,000 ft for a quite now and think it's right for my viewing. I mostly fly high altitude IFR flights though.
  8. I use this free site for all of my VA flights: http://fuel.aerotexas.com/
  9. I installed it with no hassles and have had no issues with it so far. Haven't really flown enough with it installed to really see what changes it has compared to 5.3, but the developer really supports his products well.
  10. Actually with MTX, you can define the models not to have details like exits so that the jetways won't be in use and thus gain frames. That what's happening in the screenshots. It's an option with MTX. I've been using MTX for the last few years and have not been disappointed. I've got AI set to 50% and that gives me more than enough AI.
  11. FSX using ASE plus REX with the POSKY CRJ-200: climbing out of KPDX: FS9 using AS6.5 with REX and the POSKY 737-600: climbing out of CYVR FS9 using AS6.5 with REX and the POSKY 737-600: descending into CYYB:
  12. Same performance as the 285 drivers from what I can see. I think the image quality does appear to be better with the 275 driver. I run FSX at 8xS AA and 8x AF.
  13. flytn, I was on the 285.27 drivers before and just didn't like the AA quality of the drivers. I installed the 275.33 drivers and AA seems much better now.
  14. Actually I'm not having good success with any of the 280+ drivers and AA with my new 560Ti. I haven't tried any of the pre-280 drivers though.
  15. Well the 1Gb card will definitely not do it, but perhaps the 2GB will. But I can't say for sure.
  16. Fredde, I have an i7-920 overclocked to 4Ghz. With a good cooler, you can probably overclocked your 920 to 4Ghz without any issues. I bought the 2GB version of the GTX 560Ti. I thought about the 570 and the 580 (not the plain 560!), but I like the fact that the 560Ti runs cooler and thus be quieter. My old GTX 285 ran pretty hot when playing intensive games and the fan would crank up pretty loud. But with the 560Ti, I never hear the fan abecause it runs much cooler. I do find that FSX sometimes takes up to 1.5GB of the 2GB on the video card playing at 1920x1080 resolution so I'm glad I got the 2GB card. I run FSX with almost all of the scenery settings set to maximum (max autogen, water at High 2x) and get pretty decent frame rates like 15-17 fps at busy airports like KATL with My Traffic X set to 50%. The only thing about my 560Ti which I don't like is that I couldn't overclock it that much. I only got a stable 5% overclock out of it which is still about 3-5% slower than most of the 560Ti 1GB cards out there at stock speed.
  17. I went from a GTX285 to a 560Ti about a month ago and don't regret it. The 560Ti runs much cooler and thus much quieter as the 285's fan would crank up easily while playing a game. I gained about a 30-40% frame rate increase in most games and with FSX, it is more smoother than with the 285. I think I gained some frame rates in FSX, but the main change was definitely more smoothness and less stutters. I bought the eVGA 2GB 560Ti card.
  18. Well I found this thread to be really rewarding for me. With my new 560TI, I keep on getting bad shimmering in FSX and my other games no matter what settings I tried in Inspector. But after trying SUPERVCAA 64X 4V 12 for the AA setting, the shimmers have really been cut down big time. Many thanks to both Iain and Rich Sennett for mentioning this AA setting as I wouldn't have know about it. My apologies to anyone else who mentioned it in this thread, but I missed their name.
  19. I'm using Xtreme-G's 275.65 tweaked drivers at 8XS AA and 8X AF set through nVidia Inspector on a 64-bit WIndows 7 PC. I've always used the Xtreme-G drivers with my old GTX 285 and suffered black screens, but they disappeared with the 560Ti. One thing is that I'm not using any enb bloom mod with my FSX as I really don't like the effect. Edit: I just tried the enb bloom mod according to Nick's setup on the Simforums and right away, I got the black screen with FSX. So for my setup anyway, using a bloom mod causes black screens with this limiter. Without a bloom mod, I don't get any issues.
  20. I tried this limiter before with my GTX 285 and always got the black screen when switching between window and full screen. But after I installed my new 560Ti, I now have no problems switching between window and full screen. Not once have I got the black screen.
  21. I'm using PoolSize=0 with my 560Ti and it works really well. I had some artifacts with this setting with my previous GTX 285.
  22. I upgraded from a 285 to a 560Ti and noticed a difference. Like Lenny wrote, more smoothness and a little bit improvement in FPS in FSX which I run at 8xS AA and 8x AF. I especially like the fact that the 560Ti idles and runs much cooler than the 285 which used to crank up the fan sometimes while I almost never hear the 560Ti's fan.
  23. Oh, my God! Opa was great help on the forum and he always answered any questions and PM's directed at him. Very, very sorry to hear this and my deepest sympathies to his family and friends.
