  1. For my FS 2004 Mesh perfection I use... FS Golbal SE for FS 2002 and FS 2004.(Purchased in 2006). Ultimate Terrain USA and Canada for FS 2004. Stephen Roslithberger's SRTM Global Mesh for selected regeons. Free....>>> http://simviation.com/1/fs2004terrainmesh VOZ 1.8 for FS 2004 (Free). Selective colours for different Seasons around the World. REX for FS 2004. All this makes a wonderful, realistic experience to FS 2004, compared with default! Really wonderful for VFR flights over familliar, realistic scenery! Paul...California Cruising!... B) ...! P.S...My copy of FSX is sulking in the corner of my room... ...!
  2. Note that the User Manual In Glacier Bay v2 recommends deleting certain file areas in UT Alaska and Canada to avoid conflicts with the water, land, and objects/mesh.... Lots of guidance in the Manual. Paul... B) ...!
  3. Very strange... Its the easiest thing in the world to get connected to Multiplayer in FS 2004 (compared to FSX, which requires the additional FS Host Client program). The FS 2004 in game Menu; > Multiplayer >...type in a correct IP Address...search...connect/join ....and you are away! No problem, providing the particular game Server is not Password protected. Try another address... Paul...FS 2004... FS Nav... :Bug: ...!
  4. Lucky me... ...! FS Navigator, and Plan-G (Version 2.05 (Free)) shows them all on their maps. Paul..FS 2004..FS Nav....and Plan-G... :Big Grin: ...!
  5. Beech Baron 58: XPlane only? http://www.carenado.com/CarSite/Portal/index.php?accion=product&correl=76 Paul.

    My easy-peasy utility of choice: Game Booster. http://download.cnet.com/Razer-Game-Booster/3000-18512_4-10913645.html Win 7 Home Edition. 32bit Paul...FS 2004... :Bug: ...!

  8. FS 2004, FSX, (and everything else!), on Windows 7 32bit*, installed in Program Files, with 2.5 GB Memory, and full Admin control..... ...never any problems whatsoever! Paul.... ...! * Win 7 32 bit; to run all my old 8/16/32 bit software and hardware... :Big Grin: ...!
  9. Being a "Weather enthusiast" I set my sight distance in..>>> Menu > Weather > User Defined Weather > Custom Weather > [visibility]. I adjust my sight distance depending upon the type of weather I set up in the options menu, remembering the type of visibility I observe during real-world flights in the my local flying clubs Cessna 150/152.... Rain, Fog, Mist, Low cloud, Smoke, Dust, etc, etc... For realism I set my "clear" sight distance between 5 and 10 Miles, (sometimes as low as 3 miles, VFR permitting!), for overall realism, depending upon local conditions, (local weather forecast). "Unlimited visibility" is seriously unrealistic! Paul ......a keen Weather Watcher!... :Big Grin: ...!
  10. Sounds like an Aircraft fitted with a Turbine engine(s). (Beech King Air, etc). Don't forget to move the Fuel Cut Off Lever(s) to "Low Idle" when at idle and ground manoeuvring to reduce the power slightly, and reduce "creep" at a standstill. Move to "High Idle" for full power take off. Paul.... B) ...!
  11. I have always installed all my programs to default; "Program Files" in each version of Windows. With full Windows access, I have never had any problems, and the advantage is, if the program does not come with its own un-installer, it can be completely un-installed/removed, using the Windows Control Panel: Add-/Remove Programs! ..sorted! Paul... :Big Grin: ...!
  12. The very distant "blurry" (not sharp) textures in my FS 2004 as I approach them, seem to accurately represent the natural conditions of; smoke, fog, rain, mist, low cloud, etc, ie: poor visibility.... ...also the restrictions of my eyesight! Sometimes, as E6 mentions, the Flight Sim sufferers from the dreaded; "Catch-up", where you are travelling faster than the scenery can load, particularly when flying fast at low level. Limitations of the processor, graphics card, memory, and HDD update speed! Sometimes I have to "pause" the Sim for a while, to allow "things" to catch-up!... ...! Paul...FS 2004+ FS Nav... :Big Grin: ...!
  13. Blimey!... :shok: ...! Back to school again in the Cessna 172 Trainer! Lots to learn... How about trying the various lessons in FS 2004? Paul.... :Bug: ...! P.S. don't forget to dial up ATIS on the radio first, to obtain airport conditions, landing instructions, etc... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_Terminal_Information_Service
  14. I find that most/all of the really important bits and bobs necessary to safely fly the aircraft, are mostly situated on the left-hand side of the cockpit for quick access. It certainly suits right-handers, (me), when it come to controls, radio adjustments, switches, etc. Paul..."dressing" on the right.... ... ...! .... :Big Grin: ...!
  15. Right-hand drive.... Familiar territory for we Brits!... :Big Grin: ...! (Give way to traffic approaching from the right)... ...! Paul... :Bug: ...!
  16. Another extremely ancient propellel-head here... :Cuppa: ....! ....but I must say, that in the past 15+ years of my Microsoft, etc, Flight Sims, since FU II+FS '98, I have never felt the need to purchase an aeroplane in all that time! I have found that the default aircraft, and the zillions of wonderful Freeware aircraft out there, (courtesy of some amazing designers), have fulfilled all my daily flying needs! A very nice piston prop twin?.... The Default Beech Baron 58...and its free!..... :Big Grin: ...! Paul....FS 2004+FS Navigator.... B) ...(and FSX)....!
  17. Did you also get the CD drivers, etc, that came with the 2nd hand Nvidia 9800GT? My old n-vidia 9500GT 1 GB, much prefers its older (original) CD drivers to get trouble-free operation! Newer is not always better, when it comes to Drivers!... ...! Paul... :Big Grin: ...!
  18. Thats when the (VATSIM?) Sim gets far too serious for my liking, and all of the usual fun and enjoyment is lost... ...! FS 2004 default ATC are always very nice to me, in all of my daily flights....(except they get a little bit miffed if I land on the wrong end of the runway).... ...! Paul....."Did you hear my last message?"..... ...! (I know I may be out on a bit of a limb here, but I do quite enjoy FS 2004 Default ATC!)... :Big Grin: ...!
  19. Any interest here?... >>> http://www.blueskyscenery.com/LAS_North3West5.html Mammoth Yosemite: It looks like "Photo Scenery" tho'... ...! Paul...FS 2004+ FS NAV... :Big Grin: ...!
  20. Pick your favourite Californian areas from this list...... ......which is what I do!....>>> http://www.freewares.../fs2004/us.html Paul...FS 2004+ FS Nav... B) ...!
  21. Have you compared the "aircraft.cfg" file for the fully functional, default, Beech King Air 350, with your new King Air 200? Maybe there is something obviously missing in the "Electrical Department" for the '200? Paul..FS 2004... and Electrical Engineer...(Retired!)... :Bug: ...!
  22. .... ...! I have spent so many years touring Cal, (with a Santa Monica Beach Babe on each arm.. ..), that I now know the Stare better than the Folks who actually live there! I sometimes suspect that it is so accurate because the Microsoft Scenery Designers live there!... ...! For anyone who likes flying, low-level, VFR over a wide variation of scenery and landmarks, California is certainly an excellent place to visit! I have also populated my scenery with my own "LAGO FSE" and "EZ Scenery" objects, (including Humans), so that each airfield is alive with "activity" when I land!... :Big Grin: ...! Paul...California Sunrise!... :Bug: ...!
  23. I have toured California every day for the past 15+years, since Flight Unlimited II, from Eureka to San Diego and the Pacific Coast to Nevada, and with FS Global, UT USA, VOZ 1.8, some selected scenery add-ons, and the selected area meshes from here..>>> http://simviation.com/1/fs2004terrainmesh ...I find that the State of California is one of the most accurately represented areas in the Sim...(via Google Satellite Maps)! What I see on the Google Satellite, etc, Map, also appears around me in the flight sim! Paul....FS 2004...FS Nav...Plan G v 2.0.5....and some Santa Monica Beach Babes!.... :Big Grin: ...!
  24. I occasionally get the "out of Memory" problem if I try to start the Flight Sim after I have been browsing the 'Net, etc, etc..for hours and hours... I then shut down the computer...which clears all the trash out of Memory...wait a while...and then re-boot the computer, , allowing me to start the Sim with a fresh memory! Its always advisable to re-boot the computer before loading the Sim and joining Multiplayer, to prevent errors during the Session! Paul....FS 2004...FS Nav... B) ...!
  25. An excellent tutorial, and a well known problem we have all experienced in Windows 7. ...the; "Extra Click"... ...! Paul... :Big Grin: ...!
